Tamarack Living Center Opens in Fairbanks!
Adult Mental Health Residential Treatment Services start in Fairbanks on Monday, November 22!

Alaska Behavioral Health's Tamarack Living Center will provide mental health residential treatment for adults in Fairbanks who:
  • have acute mental health needs and have not responded to outpatient treatment
  • need further treatment following inpatient psychiatric hospitalization
  • need the stability of a 24-hour program to make progress on their treatment.

What are Adult Mental Health Residential Services?

Services are provided by an interdisciplinary treatment team in a therapeutically structured, supervised environment, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The clinically structured program assists clients in building routines that increase stability and lower symptoms of mental illness. Healthy activities are offered throughout each day, including skill building and clinical groups every weekday as well as productive and recreational activities on evenings and weekends. Participants receive assistance to create a rhythm, stabilizing patterns for sleeping, eating, and taking medications. Participants work with their clinician to form highly individualized behavior and wellness plans so that they build skills to cope with symptoms in a way that reduces stress and anxiety.

"Camp Crystal" raised $2000 for the POWER Center!

Anchorage resident Billy Stapleton's annual Halloween event "Camp Crystal" drew hundred of families and a few dozen zombie runners to his East Anchorage street on Halloween night. The event also raised nearly $2000 dollars in cash and on-line donations for the POWER Center! Guests also brought coats and other warm clothing, hygiene products and backpacks to be distributed to youth at the POWER Center.

The POWER Center also recently received a generous donation from the AT&T Foundation -- for the third year in a row!

Cash donations to the POWER Center support our peer outreach workers. "POW's" are young people who engage with young people in the community doing street outreach, connect with their peers at our youth drop-in center, and provide peer-to-peer programming in center - everything from educational events on managing stress to fun game days.

The POWER Center will be moving one-building over to a new, bigger location early in 2022. The new facility will offer laundry and shower facilities, a bigger kitchen, more storage for food and clothing and more space for programming. Community support makes it all possible!
Support mental health care for all Alaskans!
Our outreach teams seek out people who are homeless and may benefit from mental health services. Over time, they build trust and help connect people to services.

The teams are collecting new or gently-used socks, hats, mittens and coats to use during outreach.

Items can be dropped at 1423 Peger Road in Fairbanks or 1432 Ingra St in Anchorage.
Alaska Behavioral Health is excited to be part of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) for the first time this year!

The CFC is the official workplace giving campaign for federal employees and retirees.

This year, CFC donations to Alaska Behavioral Health will support The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic, ensuring no-barrier access to care for veteran and military families.
Last Peer Support Trainings this year!
Alaska Behavioral Health offers free training that can lead to becoming a certified peer support specialist. Evening, weekend and week-long training sessions are scheduled for this fall!
