Meet the pets in our GECP community! | |

Koda
Koda is the most intelligent cat that I have ever met! He knows how to sit and lay down on command, when you tell him to come he will follow you, right now he is working on playing dead! He is very food motivated, he will in fact steal food right out of your hand or snag a snack from a plate. He also knows how to open doors in the house when he feels like it haha. You can say he channels his inner Garfield with the laziness but shows many signs of a dog. Such as he loves water and going outside! A big cat with an even bigger personality!!

Sagan & Sinope
Sagan is a 14 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix! She has recently gone deaf, but is very loud to make sure everyone can hear her. One of her favorite hobbies is barking at the wall. She is known for chattering her teeth and biting nearby plants when she is excited. In her youth she stole a lot, most notably a pizza off of the counter which she managed to eat the whole center out of in the 5 seconds it took for someone to run over after hearing the pan hit the floor.
Sinope is a 13 year old Staffy Malamute mix. She is an avid singer, and will do so until she gets her daily chewy at 2 pm. Sinope loves attention, and often gets jealous if her sister Sagan is being pet. She loves catching bubbles if you blow them for her, as well as playing fetch. Sinope doesn’t enjoy the stigma many have against bully breeds, as she is a sweetheart, and does not like men or people who who wear hats.

Loam & Clay
Clay and Loam are a father-son guinea pig pair. They are deeply attached to each other, but they are timid and don't seem to like us very much. However, we like having them around because they're fun to watch and they eat our veggie scraps.

Captain Jack Sparrow
Jack has been the family dog for as long as I can remember. He will turn 17 years old in September. He's so gentle and sweet and incredibly well-behaved. He is named after the Pirates of the Caribbean character, which is a favorite movie among my family.

Dude (Jio-mie)
I got him in a rainy day at animal shelter. He was two months old; he is very friendly and energetic. He caught my attention because he threw a yellow pillow to me three times from his cage.

Kiwi
I have a very strange cat, which isn't necessarily abnormal for cats, but he's just really strange. First of all, boundaries? Not a thing with him. He will walk, sit, or lay on anything possible. Where it be your laptop, your plate of food, the kitchen counter, or your lap when you're trying to work at your desk, he will find a way to insert himself right there. My dad came up with a nickname for him because of how he lays sometimes, which is "Mr. Hangover". He really likes to hang his head off of whatever it is he's laying on and it looks so uncomfortable, but he loves it. In the photo I chose, he decided that his scratching post was the perfect place to take a nap and he started hanging over it.

Millicent
For years my mom said we would not get a cat. Lo and behold exactly three days after my move in at MSU she says she found the perfect kitty. I would be mad that I was replaced if she wasn't so darn cute.

Paisley & Luna
I got these 2 kitties from a relative who couldn't take care of them. When I got them they were infested with fleas and my dad and I spent hours getting rid of them so that they were comfortable. The next day we took them to the vet and to get professionally bathed and we were told we did a very good job getting rid of them. Now, I have a strong connection to these cats where they trust me and are only comfortable with me picking them up.

Barry Sanders Williams
We rescued Barry around 5 years ago and he has been such an amazing addition to the family. Once we met him we knew it was the chance of a lifetime to name him "Barry Sanders," and it fit his personality so well!
