State of Arkansas
After the lowest day of COVID-19 infections detected in more than a month, the numbers have shot up again. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced that the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Arkansas has grown by 703, an increase of 320 over yesterday's 383.
Today's positive test brings the number of cumulative cases in the state to 51, 114. Of those cases, 6,725 are considered active with 69 in nursing homes, 741 in correctional facilities and 5,915 in the community.
When it came to today's cases, the county with the highest number was Pulaski County with 78. Garland County had an increase of 42 cases. There were 24 cases in correctional facilities and 679 in the community.
Hospitalizations decreased by 21 since yesterday, bringing the total currently hospitalized to 486. Of those hospitalized, 113 are on ventilators.
There have been seven more deaths due to COVID-19. The death total for Arkansas is now 573.
Hutchinson also announced he is signing a letter of intent with the Rockefeller Foundation and other states to work as a consortium of states. This will enhance buying power and access within commercial labs and help increase the marketplace.
