Friends,
This year like last, we are partnering with a group of pastors and artists called A Sanctified Art as we celebrate the season of Lent leading up to Easter.
These talented young people bring a fresh perspective to our weekly scripture lessons through original poetry, art, and music. This year our focus is: Seeking: Honest Questions for a Deeper Faith...

Julianna Huckriede
Interviewed by: Nancy Perry
| |
Julianna Huckriede has been a member at Emanuel her whole life. She was born into the church, baptized and confirmed, and soon to be married. Julianna is a Title One tutor for 7th grade Math and 8th grade Science at Barberton Middle School. Her hobbies include aerial yoga (you should see pictures!), working out and hiking. She also enjoys movies and tv shows. Julianna loves to travel and hopes to more when she's married.
Julianna has many wonderful memories of Emanuel. Most of her favorite memories center around youth group. She remembers youth group sleepovers after shopping for Shoeboxes and Share a Christmas where they would have pizza, watch movies and sleep on the bell table pads. On a youth retreat she recalls making smores, playing fruit basket upset and playing jokes on Reverend Edwards. And of course the bell choir memories...playing with all the kids while the parents had practice...we played outside, rode scooters and bikes in the parking lot or played in the basement. It came full circle as now, as an adult, she plays in the bell choir.
Julianna loves Emanuel and believes it has a strong membership. She would love to see more growth in membership so that the church stays strong and doesn't dwindle away. When asked why her faith is important to her, Julianna said "it's just a part of me." In college at the University of Akron, she made her faith her own. She joined Campus Focus, a faith group through The Chapel. The group went on a mission trip to Mexico which Julianna described as a life changing experience. A similar trip to Florida focused on building your faith.
On September 2, 2022 another life changing event happened! Julianna became engaged to Jon Pedrozo. They are planning their wedding for June 11, 2023 at Emanuel. We are thrilled and wish them many blessings!

This Lent, we invite you to bring your questions and curiosities with you to the land of the seeking—a place where your worry and wonder can dwell. In this music video, we share our theme song written by Spencer LaJoye, as well as much of the visual art we created for this season of seeking.
This Lent, may you engage in the spiritual practice of seeking— by asking questions, and by staying curious, open, and nimble. We pray that these questions will create a safe space to explore—to be drawn more deeply into the fullness of life, into the heart of God.
We will have copies of the devotional booklet and cards at the church. The links above are intended to be printed on both sides of letter-sized paper. The digital files may appear out of order, so please note the page numbers to follow along. Daily Facebook posts following our Lent program will also be available.
Key Lent dates:
Palm Sunday - April 2 (Easter Egg hunt following service)
Maundy Thursday - April 6
Easter - April 9 (sunrise and traditional worship services)
