Back to School Message from SUSD Governing Board President
Dear SUSD Students, Families, and Staff: On behalf of the Governing Board and Scottsdale Unified School District, we are happy to welcome each of you to the 2021-2022 academic year as we celebrate the district's 125th anniversary. We recognize that for many of you, this school year is a continuation of your journey through our academic community. But for others, this year marks the start of a new adventure in our district. We ask our community to join us in giving a warm welcome to the 2,071 students and 231 employees who have chosen to make Scottsdale Unified School District their new academic and professional home. To our new students, families, and staff, we hope your time in our district is both memorable and fulfilling, and that you find as much happiness here as we did, and do, as students, parents of students, and members of staff. AHS Safety Reminders for Back to School
Masks ARE Required on SUSD Bus Passengers and drivers must wear a mask on school buses, including on buses operated by public and private school systems, subject to the exclusions and exemptions in CDC's Order. click here to read message from SUSD.
Masks Not Required on Campus, But Strongly Recommended for All State law prohibits any school district from implementing a mask mandate as a condition of participating in in-person instruction. Consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and MCDPH, the district is strongly recommending those who are vaccinated & unvaccinated wear masks while indoors.
- Do not drop students off in the front parking lot -
- After passing the front parking lot, please create two lines of traffic -
We thank you for being courteous drivers. We understand it's a stressful 15 minutes. It's important to keep students safe as they walk from cars & the parking lot.
Student Parking When School Returns In Person
- Do not park in Safeway parking lot. Students WILL BE TOWED -
Please remind students to park legally and safely in the surrounding neighborhood. We strive to be good neighbors, and we rely on parents to help their students understand what it means to be courteous and safe drivers/parkers.
Water Fountains Off
Drinking fountains will be turned off to start the school year. Water-filling stations are available to ensure that students are able to remain well-hydrated during the school day and during after-school, extracurricular activities. Each school will also have a supply of water bottles available for students. Students are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles.
|
|
- SUSD lunch will be free for all students this coming school year.
- Get lunch in the cafeteria. Lunch carts/kiosks and additional purchases (chips, etc) will also not be available at this time.
- No lunch drop offs will be permitted by parents, etc.
Please be patient - Less locations to pick up lunch will mean longer lines - there are going to be changes to procedure as the world changes - when in doubt, pack a lunch!

AHS One Lunch is BACK + we need your help!
One Lunch volunteering will look a little bit different during first quarter. We are asking for three volunteers every day. Volunteers will be on campus supporting admin and the lunch staff by helping direct students to shorter lines, keeping lunch distribution points stocked with food, and other help as needed. This is a GREAT way to help on campus. Volunteers should arrive at school by 11:30 to meet in the office, grab a walkie talkie, and find out where you are needed. Shifts will wrap up at 12:20. Please dress for the weather as you will be outside and wear comfy shoes. UPDATE ON 7/31: ONE LUNCH VOLUNTEERING WILL NOT BEGIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2. Please keep an eye on your email for more details. One Lunch volunteering is a fun way to help at Arcadia. Please grab a shift (or two or three or more) and try it out! We will have a more traditional SignUp available by mid-September for the remainder of the school year. Volunteers will be able to sign up for regular, recurring shifts at that time. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Treon at ktreon@gmail.com. Thank you for volunteering.
