ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Bi-weekly Thursdays

November 5: Quality Indicators for Transition with Joan Breslin Larson, Independent Consultant, AT and UDL Specialist

November 19: Assessment for Students in Transition with Jessica McComb, State Program Consultant at State of Wyoming Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Ryan Rausch, MOT, OTR, ATP with WATR.

The University of Wyoming ECHO in Assistive Technology (UW ECHO in AT) provides training and the sharing of best practices for educators and service providers to consider, implement and evaluate the use of assistive technology to improve outcomes for students.

Network participants include assistive technology professionals, specialists and teams, school administrators, general and special education teachers, para-educators, case managers, school counselors, school psychologists, state agency staff, and special education service providers, including OTs, PTs, SLPs, etc.

Credits offered:
PTSB and STARS. A graduate credit is offered at an additional expense to the participant. A certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of the Fall and Spring sessions. 



ECHO AT Asynchronous Learning: NEW THIS FALL! This course is provided for the residents of Wyoming and offers participants with the opportunity to view previously recorded UW ECHO in AT sessions from Fall 2020 through Spring 2021. Wyoming participants who successfully complete the module activities will be awarded a certificate for 1 contact hour of continuing education per module.

Device Demonstrations

Open Labs will continue to be provided through Zoom distance technology on
Wednesdays and Thursdays between and 2-4 p.m. until further notice. Ongoing device sanitization procedures will continue.
Open Lab themes are created to feature technology. Questions about other WATR devices or services are welcome!

November 4 and 5: Transition Supports – Learn about the various assistive technology WATR has available for loan that can aid a student transitioning into employment, higher education, or living independently. Also, consider registering for our ECHO in AT session on Thursday, November 5 at 11 a.m. MT with Joan Breslin Larson, M. ED., Independent Consultant, as she will be discussing strategies to support students who use AT as they transition into all settings.

November 11 and 12: Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) – See how math and science can be made accessible for students with print disabilities, as well as hear about various other programs offered to assist with learning.

November 18 and 19: Assessment for Students in Transition – Learn about various technologies that can aid a student in transition. Also, consider registering for our ECHO in AT session on Thursday, November 19 at 11 a.m. MT with Jessica McComb MSW, CRC, PPC, LAA from Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and Ryan Rausch, MOT, ATP, WATR, as they will be discussing Assessments for Students in Transition.

Apps Available for Trial: WATR has various apps related to speech communication, learning, reading, vision, and daily living activities to trial on a loaner iPad or iPod or on your own personal Apple device through our Volume Purchase Program (VPP).

Featured Equipment for Loan and Reuse
The Aura LED Projector is an ideal projector for a student or client's sensory space. It’s calming, soothing and relaxing.

Projector has Wi-Fi connectivity with a free app for iOS and Android, a dimmer function and timer capabilities. Can be used on tabletops or wall mounted.
The game includes an oversized wooden game board with routed circles to secure cones during play and has red and black cone shaped game pieces that are easy to grasp. Great for gross motor skills and group play.

Accepting Lightly-Used Assistive Technology

The WATR Reuse Program is looking for lightly-used assistive technology to make available to others who could benefit from the use of those devices or technologies in their daily lives. Donated devices will be sanitized prior to sale.
