Does College-Bound Equal College-Ready? PESA’s Workshop Can Help
As junior and senior students are wrapping up their high-school careers, many are looking forward to moving on to higher education. But intending to go to college and actually getting there and succeeding are entirely different things. And we don’t mean simply academically; that part of the equation has already been years in the making.

We’re talking about the life skills required to navigate the entire college experience. Whether students are aiming for a community college, a state university or an Ivy League institution, college planning can be exciting—and highly stressful. There’s the seeking out and applying for the right school, tracking down student loans and scholarships, navigating enrollment, securing student housing, striking a healthy study/social life balance…it can all be a bit overwhelming.

PESA is here to help. As part of our High School and Beyond Program, the College Readiness Workshop helps students with the aforementioned challenges and more. And the best part? They’re offered to students at no charge.
Michelle Fortune, a teacher at Narbonne High School in Harbor City, recently took advantage of the workshop and shared the following:

My seniors took part in the PESA College Readiness discussion, and we found the presentation to be very informative and engaging. My students felt the presenters, Rosie and Araksya, were approachable and familiar with a wide array of college topics, from admissions and academics to the social life on campus. Before the workshop, my seniors were expressing nervousness about the stress of applying for college, and the presenters really put their minds at ease, by sharing their own experiences and answering the wide variety of student questions. They also had an informative slideshow that they shared with me after the presentation, and it'll be a great way to review key ideas about financial and academic planning.”
