Book Sisters (which has changed its name from Covered Dishes to more closely reflect who we are and our purpose) meets 7-8 Monday nights throughout the year at 6:30 p.m., currently virtually, on Zoom. The group will continue its virtual meetings until group members feel comfortable meeting in person at the church.

Upcoming Meetings:

March 18- Beautiful Invention: A Novel of Hedy Lamarr by Margaret Porter

Hedy Kiesler is lucky. Her beauty leads to a starring role in a controversial film and marriage to a powerful Austrian arms dealer, allowing her to evade Nazi persecution despite her Jewish heritage. A powerful novel based on the incredible true story of the glamour icon and scientist whose groundbreaking invention revolutionized modern communication.

April 15- The Book of Longings: A Novel by Sue Monk Kidd

Sue Monk Kidd is a biblical scholar who is best known for her Dance of the Dissident Daughter where she takes on patriarchy in the church. This work of fiction, written from the perspective of Ana, the wife of Jesus, is an intriguing love story and helps the reader to see the human side of Jesus.

CURRICULUM RECOMMENDATIONS
We all lug loads we were never intended to carry. Fear. Worry. Discontent. No wonder we get so weary. We’re worn out from carrying that excess baggage. Wouldn’t it be nice to lose some of those bags? That’s the invitation of Max Lucado. With the Twenty-third Psalm as our guide, let’s release some of the burdens we were never intended to bear. Using these verses as a guide, Max Lucado walks us through a helpful inventory of our burdens. May God use this Psalm to remind you to release the burdens you were never meant to bear.

1 Corinthians is one of the most gripping books in the Bible. In this letter, Paul, the complicated, layered apostle, writes to the people trying a wild new social experiment known as a Christian community. Not unlike the church today, this community dealt with factions, sexual immorality, gender issues, money issues, theological questions, lawsuits, problems in worship, and problems in leadership.
