IAWF would like to congratulate member and past conference speaker, Azadeh Khalili, for her appointment by Mayor De Blasio to lead the Commission on Gender Equity of New York City. A new and historic position, New York will have a full-time gender rights advocate on the payroll to lobby for women, transgender, and intersex people for the first time.
Prior to her latest role, Azadeh served as the Executive Director of Language Access Initiatives at the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs and held a senior position with the Bloomberg Administration. Azadeh an innovative leader committed to social change and public service. She is a leading voice for human rights worldwide. Azadeh has deep experience in leading not-for-profit organizations, government reform efforts and national and international leadership development programs. Born in Iran, she holds a B.A. from the New School University and an M.P.H. from Columbia University. IAWF's New York Chapter would like to recognize both Mona Kayhan and Sanam Akhlagh for their efforts surrounding Nowruz. Mona is coordinating the 10th Persian Arts Festival that will take place on March 18th. As part of Pardis for Children's leadership, Sanam organized a collaborative effort with the Asia Society to hold "Family Day: Spring Into Nowruz!" on March 12th.

Mariam Safinia heads The School of Practical Philosophy in California, founded in 2004. The school is one of over seventy branches worldwide and operates as a non-profit educational organization. Her professional career includes the practice of architecture, teaching at the National University of Iran as well as establishing a successful real estate company in London, England. Dr. Masi Hashemian is a graduate of USC school of dentistry 1991, Providing Laser, Cosmetics, Invisalign, Root canal Therapy and Periodontal Therapy for her patients. Dr. Hashemian established her state of the art office in Irvine in 1999. She takes pride in building her practice based on satisfied patients who feel comfortable to refer their own friends and family to her for their variable dental needs. Intern at the Iranian American Women Foundation
|
We currently looking to mentor three qualified, motivated interns to work at the Iranian American Women Foundation headquarters in Irvine, CA.
The Office Interns will provide support to the IAWF Office Team and IAWF leadership. They will be exposed to the organization's advocacy efforts and research on Iranian-American women, events planning, and the day-to-day operations of a non-profit organization. All internships are volunteer positions and are unpaid and last from 10 to 12 weeks. For students, IAWF will assist in helping receive credit for their internship. Get all the information
