The story of Bevan Cellars began sixteen years ago with one ton of 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon harvested from Showket Vineyard.  Russell Bevan and Victoria DeCrescenzo, amateur winemakers with no formal training, created their first Napa Cabernet and once vineyard owner Kal Showket tasted it he quickly hired Bevan as his new winemaker.

The following year, with more fruit from Showket and some from Drystack vineyard, they had their first two vineyard designates - and the first wines ever released as "Bevan Cellars".

In 2011, Bevan was catapulted into the limelight as he crafted the only 100 "Parker-point" Napa Valley wine of that difficult vintage.  In the years since, Bevan Cellars releases have become cult wines - tiny production and critically acclaimed must-haves for Napa Valley wine enthusiasts.

Extremely concentrated fruit, exacting grape sorting and a generous barrel program allow Bevan to control with great precision the phenolics and tannins of the wines, creating absolutely humongous wines that are fresh, rich and fantastically delicious.

Today we are offering "Ontogeny" 2017 and three 2017 single-vineyard wines.  "Ontogeny" comes in cases of 12 bottles, but the LCBO now allows us to split cases, so if you would like six bottles only I may be able to find another person with whom we can split the case.    Delivery of split cases is limited to the GTA, eastern and southern Ontario.

**VOLUMES ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED, WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO FULFILL ALL REQUESTS**

"While the 2017 Ontogeny Red Wine is the least expensive wine in the lineup, it comes from all the single vineyards (not all of which were declassified), and in 2017, it doesn't give an inch with regard to quality. In fact, it might be my favorite barrel sample in the lineup. Awesome notes of blueberries, cranberries, blood orange, white flowers, and liquid violets all flow to a full-bodied 2017 that has purity, richness, balance, and length in spades. It's another sexy, straight-up heavenly wine from Russell Bevan that's guaranteed to put a smile on your face."

"The 2017 'Ontogeny' Proprietary Red is an absolutely fantastic release from Russell Bevan. Composed from a blend of the vineyard designate sites, this incredibly crafted wine begins with inviting aromas of ripe boysenberries and black cherries which are woven together with violets, freshly tilled soil, dark chocolate shavings, fresh sage and a dusty mineral character that all develop in the glass. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous full body that is well-structured with nicely polished tannins. It goes on to impress with its remarkable depth and concentration as flavours of dark berries, black cherries, spices and earthy minerals continue to resonate throughout the wine and leave a lasting impression on the finish. The 'Ontogeny' displays the most restraint and definition in this 2017 lineup, however it still possesses the signature style of Bevan. This is sensational today and should go on to age marvelously for at least two decades."

"A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot from the redder iron soils in the centre of the vineyard, the 2017 Tench Vineyard "EE Red Wine" is another incredible wine in this lineup. Deep purple/black-coloured, with mineral-drenched notes of blackcurrants, ground herbs, earth, graphite, and crushed rocks, it has an "iron fist in a velvet glove" style on the palate, loads of tannins, good acidity, and a big finish. 2022-2045."

"This stunning blend immediately begins to unfold in the glass, releasing its gorgeous aromatics of blackcurrants and dark cherries, which are laced with violets, fresh sage, mocha, espresso bean and a wonderful underlying stoney mineral character. On the palate this is full-bodied, with outstanding depth and concentration, with ample tannins that are plush and velvety, making for a lavish mouthfeel. Everything all comes together seamlessly, as layers of ripe dark fruits are underlined by a notable iron-mineral character that continues through the long, enveloping finish. This is another outstanding wine from Bevan that is nothing short of stunning today, but should also go on to have an incredibly long future ahead. This would be a fantastic wine to tuck away for a few years and watch it evolve over the next decade or two."

"From the rockiest parts of the vineyard right along the road, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard offers that classic Tench iron and marine hints as well as fabulous crème de cassis, nori, ground herbs, graphite, and crushed rocks. Deep, powerful and structured, yet with polished tannins, it's another beautiful, deep, textured wine from this estate."

"The 2017 Tench Vineyard Cabernet is a remarkable showing in this vintage from Bevan. It instantly begins to impress with its bold aromatics of ripe blueberries and dark cherries that are woven together with sweet spices, fresh violets, mocha, graphite and dark chocolate shavings that all burst from the glass. On the palate this is incredibly expressive, boasting a full-bodied frame that is densely concentrated with an incredible opulent, layered mouthfeel. This continues to deliver loads of ripe black and blue fruits all the way through the huge, mouth coating finish. When it comes to powerful, concentrated wines, Bevan seemed to have the magic touch in this vintage, and the Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is another stunner. 2020-2034"
