IAWF NorCal Hosts Women's Leadership Conference in San Francisco

The Iranian American Women Foundation is excited for its upcoming Women's Leadership Conference! The Conference will be hosted on April 16th, 2017 at Westin SFO. It will feature a diverse array of engaging speakers, empowering stories, and will provide opportunities to connect with fellow members of the IAWF community. We look forward to seeing you very soon!

Celebrating the International Women's Day

One of the vital goals of IAWF is to connect and empower women in our community. IAWF Connect is a regular series that aims to inspire women who have made great contributions on behalf of our community. On March 2, 2017, we invite you to join us in welcoming Firoozeh Dumas and Yassamin Maleknasr for a networking mixer at Hotel Irvine's Red Bar from 5:30-6:30 pm Following the networking reception from 6:30-8:00 pm, we will hear from our guest speakers. Firoozeh Dumas is an acclaimed author who gifted us with the smashingly funny hit, "Funny in Farsi". We are also proud to present Yassamin Maleknasr, an award winning actor and filmmaker, whose latest work, "Women of the Silk Road," pushes us to explore the connections between the East and West. We hope to see you all on March 2, 2017 for a night of networking, education and inspiration!

Yasamin Bahadorzadeh

Yasamin moved to the US from Iran at the age of 21 to continue her education in design. With a B.S in Economics already under her belt, she furthered her education in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University and a completed a master's degree in Landscape Architecture & Urban Design from the University of Pennsylvania. Her drive and passion led her to co-founding Kiyasa Group with her sister, where she brings her knowledge in design and economics. Based in the NY Showroom, she leads and manages the US operations. Kiyasa Group is a boutique, design, distribution and sourcing company specialized in the most exclusive & luxurious lines of tableware and home décor from around the world. A compassionate humanitarian, a mother of three adopted children from Iran, and an advocate of vulnerable children, fulfilling her life-long vision of improving the lives of the neediest children in her motherland, Iran, in her host country, the U.S., and around the globe, Delfarib co-founded Moms Against Poverty in 2008. Nine years later, continuously growing and with a holistic approach to breaking the cycle of childhood poverty through education empowerment, hunger relief, and orphan care, MAP stands stronger than ever, and Delfarib continues to serve as its president. With over 35 years of experience in the real estate market, Delfarib works as an asset manager for a well known real estate investor in the Bay Area.

Fariba Ameri
Southern California

We at IAWF would like to express our deepest gratitude to Fariba Ameri, our Trustee Board member for her leadership & generosity. Fariba grew up in Tehran, captivated by her grandmother's chilling stories of her escape from Moscow during Russia's Bolshevik revolution. She ultimately immigrated to Iran to escape the ravages of WWII. Her worldview has been influenced by brave women such as her grandmother & shaped by a melange of Eastern & Western cultures which in turn impacts her artistic style today. She came to the US in 1977 to study at USC. With the outbreak of the Iranian revolution, she made California her permanent home.  Visit Fariba Ameri's IAWF profile  here.

Bita Ardalan is managing director and head of the Commercial Banking Group at Union Bank, N.A., which includes Business Banking and Middle Market Commercial Lending. The Commercial Banking Group provides financial expertise to commercial clients including but not limited to: debt financing, depository and cash management, global trade, foreign currency exposure, interest rate and commodity management, syndications, private placements, high grade & high yield financing, securitizations, structured finance, leasing, mezzanine financing, ratings advisory, and private banking services across a broad range of industries. Prior to her current role, Ms. Ardalan served as the head of Middle Market Banking. Previously, she founded and oversaw the bank's National Specialized Lending Group, including commercial finance, environmental services, non-profits, healthcare, aerospace and defense, public finance, and funds finance which supports the needs of sponsored investment funds, including bridge capital and subscription facilities. Ms. Ardalan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Williams College. She has completed numerous Executive Education Programs in corporate finance, leadership, strategic planning and finance at the Kellogg School for Management at Northwestern University. Ms. Ardalan is a frequent speaker and author on senior financing related topics. She currently serves on the Iranian-American Women's advisory board, as an Ambassador for the Looking Beyond Foundation, and as a Board Member for the Town Hall, Los Angeles.
