Issue 16 | September 14, 2021
Dear friends and supporters,
As next week marks the first day of Fall, how was your summer? It feels like it flew by!
As you may have seen in local media, Reception House has begun to welcome refugees from Afghanistan. These are individuals and families who have recently fled their homeland given its instability and the imminent threat they faced if they stayed. These newest neighbours are slowly becoming familiar with Canada and our region, and we are extremely grateful to the outpouring of community support for these newcomers. The Afghan refugee arrivals are in addition to the increased number of arrivals from other countries, and we expect more refugees over the coming months from Afghanistan and from around the world. In fact, this year we will be receiving many more newcomers than has been the case in recent years – and we are committed to delivering exceptional services and extending a warm welcome to all. Reception House is a relatively small organization, but we are mighty.

If you would like to assist with resettlement of all refugees in Waterloo Region, we’ve put together a quick list:

Are you a landlord or family doctor?
If you are a landlord and can assist us with housing, please visit Waterloo Region Immigration Partnership and complete the form on Step 2.
