EARLY CHILDHOOD OPEN HOUSE |

Our Early Childhood Open House is tomorrow and this is a big night for us! It's an opportunity for us to welcome in so many families through the doors of the school, and hopefully into our community! If you know of families looking for a Christ-centered Preschool/PreK/Kindergarten/Childcare Program for their child, please encourage them to come to school tomorrow, January 12, between 6 and 7:30 PM! Our classrooms will be open to visit and our staff ready to answer any questions they may have.
Preschool Enrollment for the 2023-2024 will open to the public on January 13.

We are continually trying to make sure our driveline is a safe and efficient process for all. We have some important reminders for drivers!

DRIVE LINE BEGINS AT 8:00am AND ENDS AT 8:15am. Please do not drop off students before this time as there is no adult supervision until 8am.

Parents - PLEASE DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE. JCS staff are on hand to assist if needed.

Students should only EXIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE of the vehicle as other cars could be passing on the left side.

When the line begins to move ahead, PLEASE PULL AHEAD AS FAR AS YOU CAN to allow as many vehicles as possible to get within the drop off/pick up area.

PLEASE HAVE YOUR STUDENTS COMPLETELY DRESSED AND READY (coat, snow pants, hat, gloves, etc.) when you pull in the drive line. If they are not ready, please remain in the Baldwin St. CRC parking lot, get them dressed and ready, then get in the driveline procession. We are trying to keep the line moving continually at all times.

A flyer went home earlier this week with students in regards to a Game Group that will be starting next week!
- Meeting Dates: Jan 16 & 30, Feb 13 & 27, Mar 13 & 27
- Time: 3:30-4:45pm
- Location: Game Group in MS Library
- Ages: 3rd-8th Grades
- Cost: $20, pay at 1st Meeting. This includes a t-shirt.
- Student Limit: None! Volunteers are appreciated to help!
- Leaders: Mr. DeVries and Mr. VanderWal
Game Group will focus on playing Chess and other games of strategy. There will not be any final tournaments, just games over the course of 6 weeks for enjoyment.

Hand 2 Hand is a local organization that helps to provide food assistance for families, and a food package is sent home with a student once a week. Hand 2 Hand would like to ensure that families can get help, especially if your circumstances have changed and you now find yourself in need of some help. If the are already signed up and receiving assistance, there is no need to fill it out again, you will continue to receive assistance. However, if you have not received it in the past, but would like to begin receiving the assistance, please fill out the form below and turn it in to the school office as soon as possible. |

Please join us to pray for our school, teachers, students, administration, and community. Parents in Prayer next meets on Tuesday, January 24 from 9:15-10:45am (Staff Lounge). Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. We also want to invite those who use Facebook to join a "private/closed" group that will focus on prayer for our JCS Community. Search "JCS Prayer" and request to be added to the group (JCS Admin will approve those within or connected to JCS). Thank you for praying with us! |

If your elementary or middle school child will be absent from school (due to illness, dr. appt. etc.), it is very important to call the absentee line at 457-3307 and leave a message or email the attendance line at attendance@jenisonchristian.org. Teachers may not have read email or seesaw before taking attendance and therefore the absence is not reported to the office. Also, if you need to pick up your child for an appointment, etc. you will need to come into the school office and sign them in/out on the ipad that is on the front counter.

If you have a preschooler that is going to be absent, you do not need to call into the main office, please just email your child's teacher.

Important Reminder Regarding Illness: If your child is sick, please keep them home until they are completely symptom free (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.) for 24 hours. If they test positive for COVID, we will follow the same guidelines (symptom free for 24 hours to return). JCS encourages you to follow CDC and local health authority recommendations for returning to school in cases of COVID-related illness. We will notify classes if there is a positive case, but there will be no requirements for quarantines or close contacts.

Babysitting 101 and Safe Kids 101 (Home Alone) Classes will be offered on Saturday, January 21 at the Jenison High School Media Center. Each class is 3 hours (Babysitting 9 am - noon; Safe Kids 12:30 - 3:30 pm), and are suitable for kids ages 9-12. Cost is $30 per class. Girls Basketball Camp - Unity Christian is pleased to offer a basketball camp for girls in 5th – 8th grades. This program will be held Saturday mornings on January 21 & 28 and February 4 & 11. The cost to participate is $40 for 5th & 6th and $50 for 7th & 8th, and the deadline to register is January 16. Unity Christian Flag Football for Boys Grades 2 – 7 – Unity Christian will be hosting a Saturday afternoon Flag Football Camp on February 4, 11, 18, and 25 for boys in 2nd through 7th grades. No experience is necessary and players of any level are encouraged to participate. Cost is $35, and the deadline to register is February 1.
