Happy Valentines Day!

As you’ll see, we received love stories that reflect on a beloved person or animal companion. Some tug at your heart. Some employ clever perspectives and incorporate a big reveal. And one story includes familiar places in old Belmont Shore that you might remember if you’ve lived here for a while. All of the short stories we received were creative and heartfelt, making it very difficult to choose one as the “best.” The BHNA Board reluctantly voted for one, while advocating for all of the stories, and the winning story edged out the others by a very narrow margin.
Rediscover Reading with Bel Canto Books

Avid reader and poet Jhoanna Belfer started Bel Canto Books as a traveling pop-up book club in January 2018 while working full-time as a hotel sales executive. She hosted book club events at wine bars like District Wine in downtown Long Beach, and set up shop at street festivals and in front of local businesses.
MLK Day at Horace Mann

What an honor it was to serve the community in tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 16. Dr. King’s legacy was alive and well at Horace Mann Elementary School as Principal Donna Robertson, PTA members, students and parents, the Rose Park Neighborhood Association, the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association, and 2nd District City Council staff collaborated to enhance the school grounds and plant seeds in the garden.
Who Are the Bluff Heights Board Members and What Do They Do?

Good questions! Here are the answers:

The BHNA Historic District Design Guidelines

One of the major priorities of the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association is to educate the residents and property owners as to the importance of historic preservation related to the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Historic District.
Each month we will publish a photograph from our neighborhood. The photo above was taken by Rick Schank of the tree in the traffic circle at the intersection of Vista and Orizaba.
If you have photos that highlight the beauty and uniqueness of our neighborhood, please send them to info@bluffheights.org

Is it Time to Trim your Waste-Line?
It's really simple to trim your "Waste-Line!" All you need to do is collect your e-waste, hazardous waste, and/or old tire waste and bring it to one of three local collection centers under the conditions set by the City of Long Beach on this flyer.
You will feel much lighter now that you took care of those extra notches on your Waste-Line! Doesn't being a loser feel good?
