JOIN THE CONGREGNATIONAL COVERSATIONS ABOUT COVID AND THE REOPENING FRAMEWORK THIS WEEKEND!
Please join via Zoom on Saturday, November 6 at 3:00 pm or at Crystal Lake Park Sunday, November 7 after the in-person All Souls Sunday service to discuss proposed changes to our reopening framework.

Members of the COVID Task force will discuss proposed changes, as well as be available to listen to any feedback or concerns our congregants may share. These conversations will touch on new language around possible hybrid worship models. We encourage all to attend in whatever fashion is the most comfortable for them at this time.
THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
Rev. Sally Fritsche
Sunday, November 7 at 10:15 a.m. at Crystal Lake Park
Join us IN PERSON for our All Souls Sunday service honoring all those who have come before us, at the Large Pavilion at Crystal Lake Park, 10:15 am November 7th. Wear your mask, and bring a photo or memento of any loved ones whose memory you would like to honor.

ALL AGES are welcome – this service is a chance to gather in person, meditate, celebrate, hum along to some familiar hymns, and share the stories that keep us all together. Barring a spike in COVID numbers, our choir will be singing at this service!!

You are invited to bring your own blanket or lawn chair to facilitate greater social distancing, and dress for the elements, including protecting against snow or light drizzle, as we will only cancel in extreme weather.

For those who are not able to gather in person, the service will be recorded and will “premiere” on our YouTube page at 3pm Sunday afternoon.
SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud..

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
Rev. Karen Bush
Sunday, November 14 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

There are different kinds of battles in this life.

The presence of veterans among us reminds us to remember those who served our country at a tremendous cost to themselves. Many paid a high price that has profoundly impacted them in mind, body, and spirit. Too many others paid the ultimate price.

Yes. There are different kinds of battles in this life.

For many of us the Covid- 19 pandemic has pushed us near a breaking point at times.

It has created unrelenting stressors: the illness and possible death of loved ones, fear about getting sick ourselves, prolonged isolation and disconnection, fear of job loss, shifting childcare needs, family demands, and more.

Those of us who already had been struggling to recover from past traumas may find ourselves triggered in new ways.

Consequentially, many of us are taking our stresses and our frustrations out on the nearest and easiest target….our selves.
In our isolation and disconnection we have become captives in a never ending stream of negative self talk.

On Sunday November 14 Rev KB, with the help of Anne Newman and her puppet friends, invites you to join them as they creatively share with us about pathways toward recovery, following the understanding that in order to better love others, we must First love ourselves.

Our sincere gratitude to veterans Kathleen Robbins and Gail Tittle, and to puppeteer, Anne Newman, UUCUC members, for their personal contributions to this worship service.

SUNDAY, NOV 7: MINDFULNESS PRACTICE

In these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to continue the practices that support our well-being and strengthen our community. With this in mind, the Sunday morning mindfulness group has moved online to Zoom.
NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

We have had quite a few people respond to our (voluntary) vaccine registry. If you have not yet filled it out and want to, please go to this link. This will be helpful data for UUCUC's COVID-19 Advisory Group to review as they continue to discuss plans for reopening once the risk level for COVID-19 decreases. Your information is kept confidential amongst need-to-know staff members.

OUR CARING CONGREGATION
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, October 31, 2021.

From Ellen Jacobsen: Getting to hug and play with 2 baby girls out in California- a great niece and a granddaughter. Such sweetness!!

From Paul Kaiser: Joy for the help UU assistant Avalon gave us in making this morning's youth group pumpkin decorating possible.

From Debra Karplus: I am so proud of my daughter Sari Karplus. Her second kids book, Robotastic, is now finished and is selling at Target online and soon to be selling on Amazon.

From Karen Khusro: Regarding the loss of my mom, Beverly at age 90 in memory care in Milwaukee. She had COVID in September and became weaker over the past 5 weeks, needing Hospice care and eventually becoming bed bound. I am grateful for the many hours I was able to spend at bedside, singing and caring for her and being with my 3 siblings and families over that time. Up until the last 3 weeks, she was heard quoting her favorite line: "The old gray mare ain't what she used to be!". Such a gem. The Caregiver's Chalice Group, even by Zoom, has been a great source of love and support for me in the past 3 years, I recommend it wholeheartedly if you are caring for someone near or far.
Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.organy time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering. Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of November our Shared Offering recipient is the MAIA Impact School. Guatemala is a country with one of the worst gender equity gaps in the Americas. No where is this more apparent than with young indigenous girls, who are essentially an after thought in society. MAIA’s Impact School, located in Solola, Guatemala, is one of a kind in Central America.

Through a program of rigorous academics, mentorship, socio-emotional support and family engagement, MAIA focuses on maximizing the potential of indigenous girls, nourishing and connecting their talents with 21st century opportunities. Supporting the MAIA Impact School helps address the systemic causes of mass immigration and unleashes the untapped leadership potential of young Guatemalan women. Empowered women, with the knowledge and resources to live choice-filled lives, can lead their families and communities out of poverty
