Let's Talk Bathrooms

One of the most heavily trafficked rooms in the home, the bathroom is one of the first rooms to be remodeled. This space is seen by most people who enter your home and therefore, it is important that you keep it as clean and comfortable as you can. We should all strive to maintain a cleaner, more luxurious loo. The fun part about remodeling or updating your restroom lies in the fact that it is typically a small space. That means that you can get as creative as your heart desires and you will not run the risk of overwhelming your home. Not to mention, if you get sick of the patterns or colors, it is small enough that you can easily re-paint or make minor alterations that will make a huge difference.
New Collections:
Watermark Designs

In true Watermark Designs fashion, using meticulous processes to achieve the most unique designs and finishes, Watermark Designs unveils the Lily and Rainey Collections.

The Lily collection has four distinct designs: a dimple, an ogee, a classic diamond, or mermaid scale pattern! To accomplish the intricate detailing of finishes, Watermark Designs machines and plates each faucet, not once, but twice. These fixtures are offered in 2-tone finishes that complement one another. The Lily combinations are available in Chrome, White, Matte Black, and Satin Brass with inlays of Polished Brass, Polished Copper, Polished Gold, and Polished Nickel.

The Rainey collection is a collaboration with Mark Zeff, who also played a part in in the design of the H-Line collection which was released in 2014. These fixtures, for kitchens and bathrooms, are offered with or without Watermark’s classic diamond knurling. Any way you choose to design them, these fixtures will add a stunning and unique aesthetic to your home.

Groovy Stones
Artistic Tile

A top contender in innovative design, Artistic Tile is one of our longest standing suppliers and manufacturers of tiles and slabs. Their passion for quality product is plainly seen in the materials they provide to projects.
From Calacatta to Carrara to Statuary, Artistic Tile proudly supplies not only your timeless, classic stone, they also are constantly introducing new and unique materials not seen anywhere else.

We are absolutely loving their recently debuted Lilac stone tiles. They have been coming out with different formats and textures of this particular stone and it is truly a sight to be seen.
In addition to the beautiful purple stones they have produced, the Cipollino Ondulato slabs they are offering are breathtaking. We have seen silver wave countertops, but the intertwined blues, creams, browns, and undertones of purple, are absolutely stunning. We know that sounds a bit overwhelming, however, paired with some neutral colors this slab would be a showstopper in a kitchen or even a bathroom.
Supplier Spotlight:
Blu Bathworks

Since its conception in 2009, Blu Bathworks has dominated the bathware market of Canada. They pride themselves in their philosophy of "producing bold architectural bathware that balances form and function." Owner Michael Gottschalk, a long-time member of the architectural community, has cultivated the product offering through extended collaboration with designers and European factories. These products have served as a base for Blu Bathworks to grow into the uniquely creative bathware company it is today.

Blu is known for what they have coined, the blustone collection. This collection of bathtubs, sinks, and shower bases are made of their incredibly durable material made of 80% quartzite. Their signature material is resilient and gives their products a natural stone look and feel. Because blustone requires far less energy to produce than its ceramic competitors, it has a lower impact on the environment. Moreover, the material is inherently both recyclable and repairable, so the wastage normally generated by bathware production is notably reduced.

Imagine: you log off after a long work week, walk upstairs and draw yourself a bath in one of their luxurious tubs. If you are interested, please call the closest Earth Elements DRC to schedule an appointment with on of our Product Specialists to discuss what options are available to you.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH:

Apple Tarte Tatin
Recipe from Wolf Sub-Zero Cove
Makes 8 servings

Ingredients

1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons unsalted butter
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1 tablespoon water
8 large (3-4 pounds) firm, tart apples, peeled
1/2 (17 oz.) package puff pastry sheets
Flour

Preparation Method

Generously butter the bottom and sides of a heavy 10" round cake pan or saute skillet. Set aside.

For the Caramel

In a 2-quart sauce pan on your Wolf cooktop over medium high heat, combine butter, sugar, corn syrup and water with a heat-resistant spatula. Stirring constantly, heat until the mixture liquefies. Continue to heat just 1 minute longer and immediately remove from the heat. Mixture will be dark amber brown. Pout into buttered pan and set aside.

Position oven rack to oven position 3. Preheat Wolf oven on BAKE at 400 degrees F.

Core apple by slicing vertically from top to bottom on either side of the core. Repeat with the remaining 2 sides of the apple. There will be 2 large sides and 2 small sides of apple. Discard the core. Repeat with all of the apples. Arrange the larger pieces over the surface of the caramel in the cake pan. Arrange the remaining apple sides over and around the larger pieces. Place pan in center of baking sheet in center of oven for 50 minutes, or until apples are tender.

For the Pastry

Lightly flour a countertop and gently unfold the puff pastry sheet. Roll out edges to make a 10" square. Prick the pastry surface 30 times, creating small holes over the surface of the pastry. Place on a baking sheet lined with plastic wrap. Place in Sub-Zero refrigerator until needed.

After apples are tender, gently slide the pastry over the apples and tuck in sides of pastry around apples. Place in oven and bake another 30 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown.

When the tart is done, remove from the oven and allow to cool for 30 minutes on a wire rack. Place a 12" to 14" flat serving platter, top side down, over the tart. Invert the tart onto the platter, being very careful of hot caramel. Allow the pan to sit upside down on the platter for a couple of minutes. Remove pan. Cut into wedges and serve warm.
