A note from the president

Friends,

After the past week, I'm ready to declare that crowds are back! Just last night, Mears Park was packed to the gills for Lowertown Sounds in a way that we haven't seen in a very long time.

And a huge thanks goes out to our partners at the St. Paul Saints for throwing a fantastic weekend-long block party to celebrate the 4th (and 2nd and 3rd) of July. No one knows how to have fun quite like the Saints and between the music, dancing in the streets, and fireworks they made Lowertown the place to be.

Tonight, the second installment of the Vinai and Friends feast will take place at the St. Paul Farmer's Market. These dinners are a totally unique experience and scheduled throughout the summer. Speaking of, if you haven't been to the market recently during shopping hours you may not know that several new vendors have been added, selling everything from kombucha to panda-shaped steam buns. Check out the latest #WelcomeBackStPL video to hear more from Market Director David Kotsonas.

This coming Tuesday, I have the pleasure of serving as guest host of Bands on the Blvd at the Minnesota History Center and I'd love to see you all there. Keep reading for additional information about that and other upcoming events around downtown.

Take care,
Joe

Minnesota weather being what it is, nothing outdoors is ever guaranteed. So while we were bummed that the first Bands on the Blvd event at the Minnesota History Center had to be cancelled, we're just that much more excited to kick things off next week. Pack a lawn chair or a blanket and head over to the museum's front yard for music from Blue Dog Native Blues on Tuesday evening.

Snap, Tag, Win
All summer the #WelcomeBackStPL statue will move around downtown, making stops at our favorite parks, venues and destinations.

You’re likely to run into it at one of our events, or you may stumble upon it out of the blue. Either way, we want to see your pictures showing off your StPL pride!

  • SNAP a picture with the statue - a selfie, a shot of your dog, or just admiring the scenery, we love them all!
  • TAG us in your post - use #WelcomeBackStPL and @StPLdowntown on your favorite social channel.
  • WIN - each tag gets you entered to win a downtown gift. Winners are selected randomly.
