"Color of Compromise" Discussion Group- Sept 23 to Dec 2
Two Methods to Participate
a) Wed 6:30pm in person at Crosstown
b) Wed 8:00pm virtually on Zoom
*Please RSVP to Pastor John

Each week we’ll launch into our gathering with a video from Jemar that is both challenging and hope-filled. Then we'll participate in discussion.
These gatherings are a proactive response to the events of this summer in both our community and nation. Jemar Tisby is a disciple of Jesus whose work takes us through the history of sustained racism and injustice in the American church. Participants are invited to read his book, The Color of Compromise (which is currently on the New York Times Bestseller list), but you can participate without doing so.

This disciple-building process will include listening, learning and lamenting so that we can advance as followers of Jesus who are engaging with Jesus’ call to work against racism.
"As Crosstown seeks to move forward in racial righteousness, we want to encourage you to review a number of articles from our sisters and brothers in the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). This collection was published in the September / October edition of the Covenant Companion magazine. Through these voices, we are presented with an opportunity to listen and learn. We are convicted by a statement from the ECC, 'We will not ignore the sin of racism, a virus that has plagued our world far too long.' Instead, we are challenged to move forward in a long and painful journey, with the hope of Jesus Christ to guide us." -Crosstown Elder Team
Bible Study- Sept 16
Wednesday Bible Study at 10:00am is beginning afresh at Crosstown on September 16! Each week we’ll gather both on Zoom as well as in person to hear faith-filled music, pray together, and explore God’s Word. The morning will begin with Lois Young leading from the piano. She will share from some of the great hymns and songs of our faith. After a time of prayer for others, Pastor John will lead us on a “deep dive” into Scripture. Please note that these gatherings will take place in the downstairs Youth Room. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask and insure 6’ of distance from others. No food or beverages will be served.
Encourage!-Sept 13 & 27
Our next sermon series is two weeks of encouragement. In this season of emotional stress how can we come together to support each other? How are we to be the church?
Sept 13th we will look at 1 Thessalonians 5:11 "So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing."
Sept 27th we will look at Hebrews 10:25 "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near."

One practical way to show support is to Adopt A Family. This initiative of prayer, support, and community is coming soon! Read next week's newsletter to learn more!
Women's Outing- Sept 24
Ladies lets meet at Minnehaha Falls for a picnic Thursday, Sept 24 at 6:00pm. You can make a take out order at Sea Salt or bring your own grub. Catch up on events and maybe even take a walk. Text Kristi 612-501-7192 to meet.
TreeHouse- Sept 22
"Hopelessness is becoming a defining story of this generation. That’s why TreeHouse is on a mission to end hopelessness among teens. Because we love teens and believe when they know their God-given value, it unleashes untold potential in their lives and our communities." Crosstown's TreeHouse site is returning on Tuesday, Sept 22. Please contact Angie for meeting details, angie@crosstowncovenant.org
Children's Ministry
Families Together is the new initiative to replace Kids Too! during this pandemic season. Families will meet the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 6:30pm starting Sept 23rd. Families will gather and sit together in the sanctuary for 45 minutes of music, games, lessons, and fun. This will follow all the Covid-safety regulations.
Watch the Crosstown app for a new Children's Ministry tab. This tab will be your home base for Children's video messages, Children's calendar events, devotionals and more.
