If you are opening this latest issue of The Kingdom's Chronicle over the Labor Day holiday weekend, I hope it finds you enjoying your time. When classes resume on Tuesday we will already be at the mid point of the first nine-week quarter. In fact, we will be releasing first quarter progress reports very soon so I hope all of our Knights will bring any assignments current as needed.

I would like to thank our students and teachers for their efforts over the first four weeks of school as we executed a blended delivery system supporting both our at-home (LaunchED) and in-class (Face-to-Face) students. Just above and then below you will find a few highlights of such from this past week.

Please do not forget about our virtual SAC meeting at 5:00 PM next Tuesday (please see below). We depend on this group to help with our school improvement plans, so kindly consider participating if you are a member of our school community.

I look forward to seeing both our LaunchEd and Face-to-Face students back in class Tuesday morning. Enjoy the rest of the Labor Day weekend and thank you for taking the time to read this current edition.

With Knight Pride,

Dr. Stephanie R. Jackson, Ed.D.
Principal
Lake Nona Middle School

Face-to-Face Students and Masks

Please make sure that your Knights are coming to school each day with a clean mask. Disposable masks should be disposed of nightly and not re-used. Reusable cloth masks need to be cleaned and sanitized daily. Also, it is a good idea to always pack a second mask as a back-up.

Free and Reduced Meals

If you would like to apply for free/reduced lunch go to myschoolapps.com to complete your application. Remember if you currently receive free/reduced lunch you have to reapply each year.

Media Minutes!

Welcome to Media Minutes, a glimpse into the media center activity in our Kingdom. While we are not operating at our normal pace and routine during the first quarter of school, we are beginning to plan for the near future and still try to keep our clients happy!

We are offering book checkout for students by request through Google forms. The forms are located in the Canvas Student Body course. Once in the course, there is a Media Center button. Click on the button and the two forms are located top and center of the home page. Students should select either Face-to-Face or LaunchEd in order to complete the request. Each morning, the form will be checked and any books requested, if available, will be checked out to the student.

LaunchEd@Home students will need to have someone come pick up the books from the front office. Students on campus for face-to-face instruction will have the books delivered at lunch. Any books not picked up from the front office within 3 days will be returned to the media center and checked back in. Once books are returned, they will be placed in bins and not shelved for five days to avoid any potential exposure. Fines or late fees will NOT be assessed during the first quarter of school, and possibly beyond as well.

We get new arrivals monthly!
Recently, the media center was lucky enough to add a Deltamaker 3D Printer! Thanks to the PTSA Board from 2019-2020 for approving the grant and purchasing this amazing tool for the students and staff at LNMS. We are in the process of learning how to use it, planning on how to incorporate it into different content areas, and looking forward to the day we can use it with trained students.

Knight Vital Signs

Last week 10.4% of LNMS parents & guardians viewed student progress using the Skyward Family Access system . . .

. . . versus 92.9% of our Knights checking in on their own.
