Holy, Holy, Holy

1After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
2And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
3And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
4And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
5And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
6And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
7And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
9And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
10The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
11Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Revelation 4 Commentary

(4:1-11) The Glorious Throne - The book now shifts from the seven churches in Asia to the future of the worldwide church. John saw the course of coming events similar to the way Daniel and Ezekiel had seen them. Many of these passages contain clear spiritual teachings, but others seem beyond our ability to understand. The clear teaching of this book is that God will defeat all evil in the end. Meanwhile, we must live in obedience to Jesus Christ, the coming Conqueror and Judge. Revelation 4โ€“5 provide glimpses into Christโ€™s glory. Chapter 4 is Johnโ€™s vision into the throne room of heaven. God is on the throne, orchestrating all the events that John recorded. The world is under his control, and he will carry out his plans as Christ initiates the final battle with the forces of evil.
Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we Continue in the book of Revelation with Chapter 4 we see Worshiping God in Heaven around the Glorious Throne. In making application of  today's text we get a glimpse of Heaven through the pen of John who recorded what the Lord wanted us to know about the Eternal Home for all the Saints of God. All of us who have been saved will call Heaven home but in the text we see it is not about us being there as much as it is about Jesus being there, We see the beauty, power, and majesty of this glorious place. The verse that stands out to me is verse 8 which states that God is Holy. The word Holy means perfection. God is Holy. His Holiness shows our need for a Savior. His Holiness should motivate us to to live right. His Holiness should cause us to praise and worship Him. How about you? What does God's Holiness mean to you? Does it cause you to repent of your sin? Does it cause you to live right? Does it cause you to praise and worship Him? Let us learn from our text today as we see He is worthy because He is Holy.
