Knollwood News
February 21, 2021
We continue our study of the Gospel of John. The apostle, writing at the end of the first century, gives his account of the life and ministry of Jesus. His prime reason for writing, as he states in chapter 20, is that we “may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing have life in his name” (John 20:31).

Each week, we invite you to read the chapter(s) that will be the focus of the next Sunday’s message. This coming week, the reading is John, chapter 21.
Church Membership Vote

Pastor Mark sent out a letter informing you that the Board of Elders at Knollwood are presenting Moises Altamirano to the church as a candidate for Associate Pastor. We are excited about the possibility of Moises joining the staff and serving the body in this position.

This Sunday, February 21, there will be a vote by members whether Moises Altamirano will be hired as Associate Pastor.

There will be two ways to participate in the vote:
  1. If you attend the morning service, there will be a short business meeting after the service to vote on a motion from the Board of Elders to offer the position to Moises.
  2. If you do not want to participate in person, you may drive through the parking lot between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. to cast your vote. (The Bylaws of Knollwood Community Church do not allow for absentee or proxy voting.)

Please be in prayer for this important decision. Your vote matters! Thank you.

Christian Motorcyclists Association Day of Prayer

You are invited to the Christian Motorcyclists Association Day of Prayer. This is a day we choose to pray for the people in various positions in our government. We will be meeting together on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 3pm to stand at the site of our nations' leaders; at the buildings representing the three branches of our government.

We will meet at the Capitol South Metro Station at 3pm, break into three groups and head out to either the White House, the Capitol, or the Supreme Court. The three groups will then walk around these buildings and pray four times at each corner. Then we will head back to Capitol South Metro and have dinner at Tortilla Coast right across the street.  Meet us at Capitol South on Sunday March 7th at 3pm.
Mission Update: Christian Answers for a New Age-Marcia Montenegro

Dear Knollwood,

Thank you for your faithful prayers, partnership, and encouragement!

The Lord really blessed me in 2020 by making 2020 one of my busiest years ever. Because I can do my ministry online by doing Zoom talks and online interviews, the pandemic did not slow down my ministry. I could not travel but it is easier for churches or groups to have me speak online than trying to provide means for travel. Less expense and time for all that way. So, I did several talks, webcast and podcast interviews, and Facebook live events. Praise God for those opportunities! I also put new articles on my website, had 2 articles published, and a book I wrote with 2 others came out in March.

Throughout the year, I continued to answer emails and questions I receive via private message on Facebook. That alone keeps me pretty busy. You can learn more about my ministry by going to www.christiananswersforthenewage.org.

Prayer requests for 2021:
  1. For health to be maintained
  2. For wisdom in answering questions and opposition I receive
  3. For good time management, especially for reading some material pertinent to my ministry
  4. For opportunities on Facebook to reach those who don't know Christ
  5. For son Geoffrey, his health and spiritual condition
Mission Update: Joe & Melissa Summers

Hi Knollwood! Melissa, Katie, and I are SO appreciative of the church's financial support. We miss getting to see you all more often!

Just like all missions organizations, Cru's ministry has been turned on its head over the past year. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it much more complicated to reach students and faculty around the world considering many campuses have shut down or severely limited on-campus activities. That said God is sovereign and has continued to bless us by allowing Cru to be a part of His redemptive plan - a plan that no virus or entity can stop!

Melissa and I lead a Cru team that specializes in helping local Cru teams develop the resources needed to do what God has called them to do. Over the past year, we've helped countless teams transition their in-person gatherings into the digital space. We've also worked hard to update roll out a major update to the website we manage for Cru, which has helped even more teams and organizations navigate the complications of our present day.

Overall, although the past year has presented many challenges, we're privileged to say that we've felt blessing as well. Joe has worked from home for most of the past year and has loved getting to be around to watch Katie grow up. The time we've had together as a family will be cherished for the rest of our lives.

Our Prayer Requests:
  1. For God to guide us as leaders in the ministry - that He would direct our steps with each of the 7 Cru staff we lead.
  2. That Cru would be attentive to the voice of God, and that our attentiveness would lead Cru to reach more students and faculty than ever before with the love of Christ.
  3. For blessing as we hope to raise additional support throughout 2021 to accommodate the new expenses that come with a growing family.
Thanks for your Kindness

Thank you so much to all of the families who spent time making Valentine cards for the residents at Heatherwood. We had a goal of making 85 cards, one for each resident, and we collected well over 100 cards! Pray that our cards will bring smiles and the love of Jesus to the residents there.
