OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
From the Desk of Mrs. Tiezzi

Dear St. Rita Parents,

Today, Ash Wednesday, we had a beautiful prayer service (both in-person and live streamed) and ashes were distributed to all our students and staff members. Throughout these forty days of Lent, our faculty and students will focus on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Our goal is to get our students to think beyond themselves and to focus on kindness and mercy.

Each year St. Rita School undertakes a school wide service project during the Holy Season of Lent. For our project this year we will endeavor to raise money in support of the Connecticut Food Bank, a member of Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks, and the Divine Mercy Parish Food Pantry. Each of these facilities provides food for families and individuals who are food insecure, especially during these unprecedented times with Covid 19. As Lent begins today, Ash Wednesday, the students have been introduced to our theme “We are called to serve one another…”

Our children at St. Rita School have the opportunity to help others as “…we are called to be hope for the hopeless …” Our mascots for this service project are three adorable stuffed lambs, appropriately named Faith, Hope and Love. Each homeroom is working toward providing monetary funds for these two essential facilities and the mascots will visit the classrooms throughout Lent to encourage the children’s support. Monetary contributions, large and small, may be brought in daily throughout the weeks of Lent. We also invite and welcome families who would like to make a personal monetary donation from their own family to please send in their contribution and we will add it to our school’s total. IF DONATING BY CHECK, PLEASE MAKE PAYABLE to ST. RITA SCHOOL. It is our hope that together, school and home, we will be able to serve our community and share our compassion and gifts with those in need.

Our second trimester will be ending on Friday, March 12 and our third and final trimester will begin on Monday, March 15. A survey was sent out last week to all the remote learning families to understand your intention for the upcoming trimester. Please complete the survey on or before March 5 in order for us to begin planning for our returning students. If you currently have a student attending in-person instruction and would like to have your child transition to remote learning, please call the school office. Please note that once you have made a commitment to either in-person or remote learning your child must continue in that leaning mode until the end of the school year.

We are currently accepting new enrollments for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. If you know of a family who is interested in learning more about St. Rita School, please have them contact Mrs. Bruno, our admissions director to set up a tour or learn more about our wonderful school. Our parent referral program is now open and details on how to receive a $250 referral tuition credit for the upcoming school year can be found on our website.

During this holy season of Lent, let us try to pray a little more, give a little more and complain a little less. What a great example we will be to our children when we model these behaviors. Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Have a wonderful and blessed Lenten journey.

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

Update to Covid Quarantine guidelines.

These are the guidelines we are now following as part of the CDC’s newest guidelines when it comes to Covid 19.

If an individual does not have Covid-19 symptoms but had close contact to someone diagnosed with Covid-19:
Remain home in self-quarantine for the recommended 10 days from last exposure to the person diagnosed with Covid-19. If symptoms occur, contact your health care provider.

If you test positive:
Remain home until 10 day’s have passed since date of positive Covid-19 test or if you have symptoms, 10 days since symptoms began.

There was an addendum that had to do with testing on day 5 of an exposure and exiting quarantine after 7 days but our school district is NOT implementing that at this time.

Just a reminder of isolation vs Quarantine

Isolation = When you are experiencing symptoms or have a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19

Quarantine = when you have been exposed but you are not experiencing symptoms
Thank you to everyone for keeping your children home when they are not feeling well and keeping us informed of any illnesses. With your cooperation we will continue to keep our school community safe.

Just a few reminders:

- If your child is home sick for more then 24 hours we will need a doctors note in order for them to return to school.

- This year with COVID-19 continuing to be active the State Department of Public Health is encouraging everyone to receive an Influenza Vaccination by the end of October. The vaccinations are now readily available. Once your child receives the vaccine, please send proof into school for the nurse to document.

- If your child is home sick and the doctor recommends a COVID test please do not get a rapid test. We will only be accepting the PCR test in order to return to school.

- many of us suffer from seasonal allergies and may experience symptoms similar to COVID-19.

Symptoms more common of seasonal allergies and not COVID-19 are itchy or watery eyes and sneezing.

Symptoms more common if COVID-19 are fever and chills, muscle and body aches, new loss of taste or smell, nausea or vomiting and Diarrhea.

If you obtain positive results after school hours, please email Mrs. Tiezzi (ptiezzi.stritaschool@gmail.com) and the nurse (lpalma.stritaschool@gmail.com)

When in doubt call your pediatrician.
