Thanks for subscribing to our newsletter! We hope you're staying safe and well.  Here's what's happening!

Expanded Browsing is now available!
  • You can now visit the library and browse all collections.
  • Patrons are asked to limit their visit to the library to 30 minutes or less.  Very limited seating is available.
  • Computers are available for use: no appointment needed; 30 minute limit; must have valid library card; printing is available.
  • Study rooms and meeting rooms remain unavailable at this time.
  • Masks and social distancing are required at all times.

In the interests of community health and following local and state health recommendations, the Library is re-opening in stages. Find more information here.

The Library will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 for Staff In-Service and Thursday, November 26 for Thanksgiving.

Did you know that with some recycled plastic and your smart phone, you can view holograms?! Well now you know! And we'll provide a kit with all the supplies you'll need (minus the smart phone and a few strips of clear tape) to enjoy this cool tech for yourself!

Brainfuse HelpNow offers real-time tutoring and writing assistance for all ages in both English and Spanish.  Find help in mathematics, English, social studies, and science.
Animal Antics Virtual Storytime
Available for pickup starting November 5, 12, & 19.
For ages 5 years and under.

Pick up your storytime kit at the library and take it home to learn together.  Ms. Janice will be reading stories with some of your favorite animals. We will point you to her video - you can use the materials from our kit to learn and laugh together.
Take-and-Make STEM Kit Saturdays
New every other Saturday (Nov 14, Nov 18, Dec 12)
For ages 5 to 12 years.
We'll have a new STEM kit available for pick-up every other week.  Stop by and get a neatly packaged kit containing everything you need for a simple STEM project. 
Take, Read and Create: Clifford
pickup starting November 3
Stop in for a great photo op with your child and one of the most famous dogs of all time CLIFFORD, the BIG RED DOG. After that we will give you a packet that includes a book and a Clifford craft to take home to read and create.
Preschool Family Fun Time
Tuesdays 10:30am: Nov 10, Nov 17, Nov 24
For families with preschool-aged children.
Bring your preschooler to the library for stories, movement and age appropriate hands-on learning. Each family group will have their own materials to work with and families will be at a safe distance from one another in order to follow Michigan Safe Start Guidelines.
Family STEM: Magnets
Saturday, November 21, by 45-min appointment
Join us for activities and demos suitable for the whole family.  Today: There's more to magnets than you think! Explore electricity and magnetism with lots of hands-on activities!
Virtual Mother-Daughter Book Club
Monday, November 16, 6:00pm
For ages 8 to 12 years. Enjoy visiting with other book club members online! We will play a game and discuss a different book each month. Books will be available at the Circulation Desk when you register. This program will be in a Zoom format. 
How To: Teach Your Dog A Trick
starting Friday, November 27
Learn how to teach your dog a trick from Highland Elementary's Mrs. Mondrush! Do you know Deago or have you seen him perform tricks in the Rock and Roll K9 shows? Mrs. Mondrush taught him everything she knows and she is willing to share her secrets with you! When you sign up for this program you will receive a link to the video!

Bring your little superheroes to celebrate the Wonder Women of history! Make superhero cuffs and conquer other empowering activities to help you find out just smart and courageous you really are. 
Virtual Parent-Son Book Club
Monday, November 23, 6:00pm
For ages 8 to 12 years.
Calling boys to enjoy a monthly book discussion and game! Would you like to solve a mystery one month, survive an adventure the next, and laugh yourself silly after that? Bring a parent and a snack. We will be reading mystery, fantasy, adventure, classics and humor.
