It was announced on Wednesday (7/15) that the $100 million Michigan Small Business Restart Program will leverage federal funding through the CARES Act to help reduce the economic impact of the ongoing pandemic on Michigan small businesses and workers.  Read More

Protect My Public Media Urges Support for Funding as Appropriations Bills Move Through Congress
Protect My Public Media has renewed its call for public media support after the U.S. House Appropriations Committee approved increased funding for public media stations as it approved annual spending bills on Wednesday (7/15).  Read More

College Scholarship Named After WTCM's Ron Jolly
Ron Jolly, longtime morning show host at news/talk WTCM-AM (Traverse City) announced this week that a scholarship has been named for him at Hillsdale College.  The Ron Jolly Endowed Scholarship was formed by an anonymous donor and will help send deserving students from Michigan to Hillsdale to participate in the College's excellent radio and journalism programs.  Read More

WILX Announces 'Studio 10' Daily News and Lifestyle Program
Gray Television's WILX-TV (Lansing) has announced an October start date for a news and lifestyle show called "Studio 10" to air weekdays at 4 p.m. on-air and on-line. The brand-new hour-long program is currently under development and is expected to have segments focusing on local food, fitness, health, parenting, auto, travel, entertainment, local news and more.  Read More

Northern Radio Sells WSRJ to Good News Media
Northern Radio continues to spin off stations in Northern Michigan.  On July 14, an application was filed with the FCC to sell silent WSRJ-FM (Honor/Traverse City) to non-commercial operator Good News Media, Inc. of Traverse City.   Read More

WCCW Serves Up 'Concerts on the Lawn' During Pandemic
Summers in Traverse City have, for many years, included a "Concert on the Lawn" series, where free concerts were put on at the grounds of the GT Pavilions. Interlochen Public Radio to Offer Milliken Broadcast to MPRN Stations
Interlochen Public Radio has announced that it will air and make available to other MPRN stations, the Memorial for Governor William G. Milliken, which will be held at Interlochen Center for the Arts on August 6. The memorial was previously set to take place in the Milliken Auditorium at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.   Read More

WPHM Covers 96th Running of the Mackinac Yacht Race
The Bayview Yacht Club has held their annual Port Huron to Mackinac race for the past 96 years. It is the longest consecutive freshwater yacht race, held through times of peace, war, depression, and most recently, a pandemic.  Read More

NAB Launches Toolkit for Stations to Celebrate 100 Years of Radio
The National Association of Broadcasters is counting down the 100 days to the centennial anniversary of the first commercial radio broadcast with an online and on-air #Radio100 campaign.
