July 24, 2020

Dear Chatham Hall Family,

We hope this letter finds you well. Here on campus, we are excited to welcome your daughter back to Chatham Hall. Our goal has remained the same throughout this period: to reopen safely, protecting the health of each individual at Chatham Hall, while also providing the very best experience for your daughters in what we know will be a different, yet joyous year ahead. A successful reopening is dependent on the commitment of all of us to reduce individual exposure and safeguard our overall campus. Strong partnerships with our families is vital and we thank you for your trust and support in Chatham Hall. As a five-night boarding family you will play an important role in protecting our campus.

After careful consideration of the information provided to us by experts in the field, we write today to request all five-night boarding students remain on campus with us for the entirety of the fall 2020 term. We know each of you value your time with your daughters, and we know you chose to be a five-night boarding family. These are most unusual times, however, and the well being of each student is our highest priority. Just as we have asked our boarding families to limit weekends away, we ask the same of each of you. Please contact Dean of Students Marin Miller by Friday, July 31 to accept this proposal. We are happy to share your tuition will not be altered. Should this not be an option for your family, we are happy to have you engaged in an online academic option for the fall 2020 term. However, it is our true hope to have your daughter on campus with us and engaging in the full community. We will re-evaluate in the new semester what additional protocols will be necessary as we limit the traffic to campus while creating a happy and safe atmosphere for your daughter. Should you have any questions, please contact me or any of the members of Chatham Hall’s Pandemic Response Task Force (listed below). I again wish to thank you for your time and consideration as we navigate this time together.

Esto perpetua,
Rachel A. Connell
