State of Arkansas

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said there were 591 cases detected today, bringing the state's cumulative total to 35,240. He said that the number was probably an anomaly after a week of daily cases of more than 600 due to fewer tests than usual being administered.

Of the cases reported today, 80 were in Pulaski County and 30 were in Garland County. Of the 591 cases, 7 were in prisons and 584 were in the community.

The state's hospitalizations also saw a decrease of 14 more people hospitalized, bringing that total to 474. Of the 474 people hospitalized, 107 are on ventilators.

There were six more deaths reported since yesterday, bringing the state's total to 380.

As of today, 6,876 cases are considered active with 140 in nursing homes, 916 in correctional facilities and 5,820 in the community.

Hutchinson was asked if he'd consider another shutdown if the numbers continue toward the staggering numbers projected for October/November of this year, which predicts more than 100,000 active cases. CDC models for each state are available here

"Everything is on the table," Hutchinson said.

Reporters also asked about discrepancies between local death numbers and those reported by the state.

"We are behind," Romero said, adding that sometimes deaths were not reported to the state until more than 72 hours after they occurred.
