Unemployment Lost Wages Assistance Program
Eligible claimants can receive a supplemental payment of $300 per week, for a minimum of three weeks, in addition to their weekly unemployment benefit amount through the State of California Employment Development Department’s (EDD) Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program. The payments are for weeks of unemployment beginning July 26, and will be available for a limited period of time.

To be eligible for LWA payments, you must:
  • Provide, or have provided, a one-time self-certification indicating that you are unemployed or partially unemployed due to COVID-19.
  • Have a weekly benefit amount of $100 or more, even if you received less because you reported wages.
  • Some exceptions apply

Payments are added to regular unemployment amount for any eligible weeks, and are made by EDD Debit Card or checks.
Message to OC Voters About COVID-19 and Ballot Security
Orange County Registrar of Voters, Neal Kelley released a video about in-person voting options during COVID-19, election security, and operational plans with the United States Postal Service. For voting in person, voting equipment cleanliness and physical distancing along with additional safety measures have been put in place.
To enhance election security, partnerships have been built with federal agencies, such as Homeland Security and the FBI, along with regional law enforcement and intelligence organizations.
Orange County’s Mayors: ‘Mask Up to Open Up OC!’
All of Orange County’s 34 mayors have teamed up to send a message to residents, businesses and visitors to “Mask up to open up OC!” OC mayors socially distance and mask up at iconic locations across the county. How Do You Feel About a COVID-19 Vaccine? 
The Orange County Health Care Agency is asking for your input toward a COVID-19 vaccination. The information provided will help HCA in planning for the distribution of the vaccine when it becomes available. Click here to access the survey by October 9. All responses are anonymous and confidential. The survey is available in eight languages.
