Dear Parents and Guardians

Here are a few important updates for our Riordan families--please read thoroughly.

On Friday, October 23 the San Francisco Department of Public Health completed a site review of our campus. This included an audit of each classroom, hallway, and campus space to ensure our signage and procedures are compliant with reopening protocols. We are waiting to hear back from the SFDPH if we have been approved to reopen with our hybrid plan, but did receive a lot of positive feedback during the site visit. The new dates below represent our best guess to when we will be able to offer in-person/hybrid learning.

Cohorts

Information about a student's assigned cohort were emailed to parents and students on Friday. If you need this information resent, please contact Mr. Michael O'Brien, mobrien@riordanhs.org.

We have received a few requests for cohort changes, and we know students want to be placed with their friends. This is understandable as our students develop wonderful relationships with their peers. Unfortunately we can only accommodate change requests on an urgent basis. Thank you for your understanding. Cohorts will change in the second semester when we move to the new block of classes.
Parent Meetings Monday and Tuesday

These will give an overview of the plan for reopening and safety protocols with Dr. Currier, Mr. Reardon, and other members of Riordan's safety team.

  • Please try to attend your assigned division.

  • If you have a student in both upper and lower divisions, you do not need to attend both sessions.

  • We recommend that at least one parent per family attend, and both if a student lives in two households.

  • There will be a chance to ask questions using the chat feature.

First In-Person Day of School Updates

We have made some adjustments to the start of hybrid learning and training. This includes a delayed start for Juniors and Seniors until after Thanksgiving Break, and trainings that will start on November 9, a week later than previously announced.

November 9 is a previously scheduled holiday for Veterans' Day. Because of prior scheduling of testing for faculty and staff, we opted to move this holiday to the Thanksgiving week. If a student is unable to attend the training on the 9th, he or she will not be penalized and will receive further instructions regarding the completion of the training requirement.

Recommended Testing

It is strongly recommended (but not required) that all Riordan students be tested before returning to school. Only positive results should be reported to Riordan's confidential COVID Coordinator Mr. Mark Modeste, covid@riordanhs.org. We also encourage all students to get a flu shot.

Travel Policy

We will be following the SFDPH's recommendation on travel. As we do our part to maintain the health and safety of our school community, per the SFDPH we recommend avoiding travel out of state/country and to locations with known high infection rates of COVID-19, or you have engaged in the circumstances below, within two weeks of in-person instruction. We will aim to provide families with two weeks-notice prior to a return to campus to allow students and staff to follow this guidance. As a courtesy, we will ask Riordan students and faculty to report recent and future travel plans if needed for contact tracing purposes.

  • You interacted for more than 15 minutes within six feet of someone outside your household when you or the other people around you were not wearing a Face Covering at all times;
  • You were indoors, including on a plane, train or bus, and either you or those around you were not wearing face coverings at all times;
  • You interacted for more than 15 minutes within six feet of someone—either with or without a Face Covering—who was experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or who began to experience symptoms of COVID-19 within 48 hours of your interaction with them.

Other Information To Be Announced Soon
