A Message from Bob Henderson: October 22, 2021
Dear friends:

Since the beginning of time, people of faith have tried to understand the nature of God. Questions have been asked about it (If God is all-loving, why is there suffering?), enormous books written about it (Summa Theologica), and whole movements started simply to emphasize one particular aspect of the Divine Being (Pentecostalism). Who God is and how God acts is an important question, especially since many of us have to try hard not envision God as a stern high school principal, rifling through our files and not liking at all what she finds.

This week’s scripture passage is one of three successive stories Jesus tells to try to get religious people to re-imagine their understanding of God. In preparation, I’ve explored it in depth and am excited about some new insights. You can read it for yourself here

In addition to exploring this passage, we’ll celebrate a baptism at the 8:45 service, where Molly will be sharing her gift for preaching, hear from Tricia Smith about opportunities to serve across our city, and welcome new members.

It promises to be a great day. Come, and bring a friend.

Warmly,
