It's nice to see that things are getting closer to normal. Here at the Cornwall Public Library, we are still wearing our masks while at work and still request that patrons wear masks.
I am excited that Cornwall Public Library will be participating in the Fourth of July parade this year which steps off at 1 PM. The Library won't have a float in the parade but we will have a 1993 LeBaron convertible!! One of our Cornwall Library Friends (Cindy Topps) owns it. She has offered to be the chauffeur for the Cornwall Public Library in the parade. (I haven't ridden in a convertible since my husband owned an Oldsmobile 442 in the early 1980s! I drove it once, and it pretty much got away from me. That was how many times I drove it--once!) I am looking forward to being a passenger in Cindy's convertible. Brenda and I are planning to have a fun day with Cindy! Hope to see you all at the parade!

BANNERMAN ISLAND WALKING TOUR

The rich history of Bannerman Island and the beautiful scenery
will provide you with a wonderfully enriching experience on this guided tour.
Plan to arrive in Beacon at 10:30am for an 11:00am departure.
Wear comfortable shoes due to rough terrain.
Returning at 1:30pm for this rain or shine adventure.
Ages 11 and up.
Bring food & drink as needed.
Limited to the first 40 registrants.
$40.00pp (non-refundable) cash preferred or check payable to
"Friends of Cornwall Library" by July 27th.

History Matters: Tulsa 1921

Earl Miller presents on the 100-year anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre, also known as the "Black Wall Street Massacre."
Mr. Miller, whose grandfather pastored
one of the churches destroyed in the massacre, will examine the historical context of the atrocity while paying respect to the lives, businesses and homes destroyed.

However, we remain committed to continual community engagement and education through virtual seminars and recorded presentations.

Protecting Your Finances
During the Coronavirus Pandemic
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) provides up-to-date information and resources to protect and manage your finances during this difficult time.
Below are links to information on options and deadlines for various relief, some as part of new legislation.
Congress passed legislation providing an additional $300 per week to all workers receiving unemployment benefits. The supplement begins after December 26, 2020, and ends on September 6, 2021.
Some homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage now have a little extra time to seek help.
Interest and monthly payments on federally-held loans are suspended through September 30, 2021.

The Library now subscribes to hoopla - a video streaming service that provides access to hundreds of thousands of digital items for free with your Cornwall Library card!
Patrons have a 5 item monthly limit for materials borrowed through hoopla.

While many of us stay at home, don’t forget that the Library offers many options for reading or listening to your favorite titles. The Libby App by Overdrive is one of the best options to access more than 10,000 ebooks and audiobooks.
Libby is compatible with many devices including Kindle, iPad and iPhone, Nook, Chromebook, Kobo, Android and Windows and is available in your phone’s App Store.
