August 4, 2021

Dear Families and Staff,

Today, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced masks will be required indoors for students, teachers and staff at pre-kindergarten-12th grade schools.  In line with CDC guidance, masks are not required for activities outdoors where transmission risks and rates are lower.

Health guidance has been evolving quickly over the past several weeks; the District will continue to monitor and update our planning efforts accordingly.  Our administration is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment while maximizing in-person instruction.  We continue to expect to return to a more typical school day, schedule, and activities starting August 25.

District administration is presenting a comprehensive plan for fall 2021 at the August 17 School Board meeting.  This plan includes COVID-19 mitigation layers, operational plans, and teaching and learning priorities.

You can expect another communication from the District next week with additional information and updates about the school year.  We are committed to keep you regularly informed to ensure a smooth start to the school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Trisha Kocanda
Superintendent
