Dear Lower School Families,
As our country faces division and turmoil, we are thankful for the sanctuary of school and the steadfast focus of our teachers and students on the permanent: truth, goodness, and beauty. Within these hallowed halls and classrooms, we find solace in the knowledge that we will leave behind the tumults of the outside world and spend time engaging in deep conversation of literature, history, and science and the response in virtuous action the truths contained within demand of us.
While we remain committed to providing the best possible education for all our students, the sacred academic atmosphere of the school building is just one example of the benefits that in-person learning can provide. Engaging with teachers and peers throughout the day allows for richer conversation, deeper understanding, more active participation, and immediate feedback. Because these are not as available to students working remotely, it is even more vital that our distance learners participate appropriately and demonstrate understanding during their daily Zooms and by returning work on time.
Henry Ford reminds us, "Coming together is a beginning. Staying together is progress. Working together is success." Thank you for your continued support as we work together to forge a more civil and humane world for our children.
