Almighty and everlasting God, increase in us the gifts of faith, hope, and charity; and, that we may obtain what you promise, make us love what you command; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

“How Firm a Foundation”
The Upcoming Annual Appeal Will Be Two Appeals In One
The material you will receive as part of this year’s stewardship campaign will include a response card with spaces for you to enter two different pledges.
- One space will be for the amount you plan to give in 2022 for the normal support of Trinity Church and its mission in Hartford and the world. This is the equivalent of your normal annual pledge to the church.
- The other space will be for the amount, if applicable and not already pledged by you, that you would like to pledge in 2022 for The Campaign for Trinity – the three-year capital campaign to repair and update our buildings.
This will be the final year of the Campaign for Trinity – although we’re considering providing an opportunity in future years for contributions specifically to building maintenance. Please start now to consider what you could give in the coming year to support both the life of Trinity Church and the home of Trinity Church. Thank you!

Help Organize Trinity's 2021 "Giving Tree"
This Advent, we will continue Trinity's tradition of a "Giving Tree" project. A tree will be set up in the Sanctuary, loaded with tags that list special wishes from the students at Trinity Academy, as well as children whose names are given to us by Covenant to Care. Parishioners who wish to participate chose a tag, purchase, wrap and place the gift under the tree - all within a 2-3 week period.
This year's details will follow in November, but as you might imagine, this is a team effort! Volunteers are needed for activities such as: coordinating with Trinity Academy and Covenant to Care, creating the lists electronically, making the tags, setting up the tree, being present on Sunday mornings to assist parishioners with the tags, monitoring returning gifts and following up as needed.
If you'd like to be involved in some aspect of this organization, and get to know fellow parishioners in the process, please contact me by October 24.

Sanctuary Stitchers Wants You!
The “Sanctuary Stitchers”, Trinity's prayer shawl ministry group, is starting up again this fall, and welcomes new members!
We meet for prayers, fellowship and knitting, crocheting or other portable crafting. The group creates prayer shawls, lap robes and baby blankets for members of the parish and ministry partners.
If you enjoy creating for the benefit of others, consider joining this informal and welcoming group. Please contact me if you have any questions, or would like to be included in group communications.

Please note that the ‘Black Lives Matter to God and to Us’ sign has been temporarily removed while we find an alternative sign with the same message that complements the aesthetics of the building and grounds.

It's available at Amazon and other booksellers, and libraries. Masks will be worn, except when partaking of the refreshments. No need to RSVP. Come and join in the fellowship, the discussion, and the laughter!

This year, St. John’s is hosting a Trunk or Treat for the neighborhood. If you have never experienced a Trunk or Treat, google it! Trunk or Treats are a safe, fun way for families to celebrate Halloween. We will be advertising the event at neighborhood and partner schools. We hope to have at least 20 cars decorated and ready to hand out treats to ghouls, goblins, ninjas, and butterflies. Trunk or Treat is early enough in the evening to go out trick or treating afterwards, if that is your tradition.
You can participate in several ways:
· Bring your vehicle and candy/treats/stickers for ~50-100 kids. Decorations are encouraged, and can be as simple or elaborate as you’d like. Please arrive by 3:30 to set up your car.
· Decorate a table (provided) and bring treats as above. Please arrive by 3:30.
· Dress up and welcome visitors! We’ll give you treats to hand out.
· Donate candy, stickers, or other treats to supplement. Drop them off at church by 10/31, or order and have them delivered to the church care of Margie.
· Bring your child (and perhaps another family) to trick or treat with us!
Trunk or Treats are geared towards younger children, but all are welcome.
