Weekly Newsletter 01/27/2023

Dear Parents,

Here's to another action packed week at Kids for Kids with lots of wonderful coming attractions for February.

This week, I had the joy of teaching our VPK kids in the Science Lab. They showed off everything they learned in class about energy and the sun. In the lab the kids learned about the sun as a source of energy. We also talked about why it’s important to use sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats to shade ourselves from the sun. The students did a fun experiment and watched how the ☀️ burned images of objects on a special sunprint paper.

Many of our classes had a chance to water the garden and some even picked and tasted the yummy tomatoes that they picked. Some of you have already participated in our little post holiday garden fundraiser. Commemorative 2023 holiday ornaments are still available. Simply find your child's school picture and pick out the ornament(s) you wish for us to make. Put them in the bag provided and hand them into the front door. We will put the school photo in the ornament and bill you $5 for each one. You can also email bethdavis@kidsforkidsacademy photos of siblings and they will have ornaments made as well. All monies raised will help buy more plants for the garden. All orders from this past week should be ready to hand out on Monday. For those kids who missed fall photos, we can use your make up photos. Just put the ornament in the bag with a note to use the make up photo. We will take ornament orders through the end of next week.

Remember....If you missed the fall photos, the make up photos will be on Tuesday, January 31st. Your child can wear their school uniform or other clothing if you send a change.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR....Before you know it, February will be here. We have 2 time honored traditions at Kids For Kids. ALL kids in the school love to exchange Valentines. Families have several options for this....The Dollar Tree, Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens and other places sell boxes of Valentines. The only restriction is NO CANDY. You can also get special Valentines like fruit snacks, goldfish, little cookies, pencils, or other packaged trinkets. Dollar Tree has some really great stuff. To make it easy on your child and our teachers, simply write who the Valentine is from. The kids will make bags here and have a blast putting a Valentine in the bags of all their friends.

PLEASE SEND IN ALL VALENTINES PRIOR TO 2/14.

We also have a FRIENDSHIP FRUIT SALAD. Next week lists for each class will be posted. Those who wish to participate, sign up for an item on the list and send it in on Valentines Day 2/14. The kids will enjoy a community Friendship Fruit Salad together and celebrate having such wonderful friends.

Finally we are super excited to welcome the COLGATE BRIGHT SMILES PROGRAM back to our school. This dental education program is open to all students. Kids will learn about dental health and have a chance to sit in a dentist chair and have their teeth counted. This non invasive program is wonderful and I highly recommend it for all students. Please be sure to download and print a permission form at this link
