Construction Update | 10-23-20

Installation of water main is complete and the new asphalt surface between 10th Avenue and 8th Avenue has been placed. Except for minor touch-up items, the new sidewalk to the Jefferson High School softball complex is also completed. As weather and site conditions allow, grading, sodding and re-installation of street and traffic signs will occur over the next 2-3 weeks.

Most remaining work is between 8th Avenue and 18th Street. New curb is expected to be completed yet this week. Early next week - weather permitting - the first layer of asphalt will be placed. After that, residential driveways will be replaced, followed by placing the final asphalt layer.

If the weather cooperates, all work, including finished grading and sodding can be completed by mid-November.

About the Project

The Chandler Street project stretches from 10th Avenue to 18th Street SW, and includes asphalt resurfacing, drainage improvements, water main replacement, sidewalk extension and sidewalk ramp upgrades. The project is anticipated to be completed Fall 2020. Future improvements include Chandler Street and the 20th Street loop, planned for 2021.
