December 2022 (No. 124)
Welcome to our newsletter. Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
Clifden
We were able to get a few nice photos of Clifden before winter, and will come back next year after the landscape settles in. This was a great project and we are very happy with the result, a new home with contemporary aesthetics that feels comfortable, warm, and filled with daylight. Interior design by Jeanne Handy Designs. Construction by Oceanside Builders.
On the Drawing Board
DMA received planning board approval and is about to finalize construction drawings for a new building at the Bath Area Family YMCA. This 1,900 sf, two-classroom building will provide additional much-needed daycare for up to 32 students for the YMCA. The real intent of this project is to help bridge the daycare needs in our community as the Bath YMCA works towards a larger addition to the main building.
Cold Spring Farm
Construction is progressing and the owner is scheduled to occupy this modern addition to an historic house by Christmas. It's not always easy to add onto an old house, let alone something as historic as Cold Spring Farm, but the addition does a great job on not overpowering the existing brick home but bringing a modern touch to the new work. Construction by Chartier Building and Remodeling.
Georgetown's New South
Framing is underway at Georgetown's New South, starting with the moment frame, which is the steel frame in the photo. Concrete is complete and it has been backfilled. The house will be nestled into the landscape and will enable the owner to maneuver the significant grade change inside the house. Construction by Chartier Building and Remodeling.
Twisted Christmas
It's that time of year again when you leave your kids at home and enjoy a nice and naughty evening of festive songs, skits, improv, dance and audience participation with classic Christmas themes with a twist.

Two nights only, at a new venue, Long Reach Kitchen and Catering at the Bath Golf Club, Friday December 16 and Saturday December 17 at 8pm.

A Summer Cottage that has been in the family for years is getting a bit of a renovation and a significant addition to make the cottage more functional. Although not insulated, the addition will provide modern amenities like a new kitchen and dining area, as well as a new primary bedroom suite. Construction by Oceanside Builders.
