A Message from Pastor Sara
I have a log in my eye. I know it is there. I find myself judging others for not wanting to learn or grow and stretch themselves to learn something new or hard or go deeper. Yet I find myself this month looking at my own log. It's February, which is Black History Month, and I have not been doing as much learning and growing around issues of race as I have in the past. I have not finished reading the antiracism book on my stack that I literally recently dusted off and cannot remember how long it has been there since I have last picked it up.
On the one hand I am irritated that we cannot have a year round focus on black history, but on the other hand am grateful for this month's reminder to work on my log. Since reading has not been going so well for me lately, I am looking at a different media. The African Descent Ministries of the ELCA celebrates Black History Month with a second season of “Talks at the Desk,” a four-part video series that will explore diverse expressions of the church. A new video will premiere each Wednesday in February at 7:30 pm Central time. Watch them live on Facebook, stream them on YouTube or download them at ELCA.org/ADM.
I have work to do. Will you join me?
God's Peace,
Pastor Sara

PRAYERS
Called together to follow Jesus, we pray for the church, the world, and all in need.
Call your people to seek your WISDOM in difficult conversations and action. Give the church everywhere courage to repent for the ways we have tolerated and practiced injustice.
Inspire our wonder at CREATION, from the light of dawn to the beauty of the dark knight. Sustain the unseen depths of the ocean to the plants and the animals we know well.
Instruct the powerful in your ways. Provide upright LEADERSHIP in business and industry, that workers are not oppressed. Throughout the world, inspire voters and raise up politicians to heed your call for nations to practice righteousness.
Loosen the bonds of injustice in our midst. Grant PEACE to endless quarrels, put an end to hunger, and break every yoke of oppression. Shelter all who flee abuse in their homes or violence in their communities. Satisfy those afflicted in any way.
We bring to you our needs and hopes now, O God, trusting your wisdom and power revealed in Christ crucified.
HEAR OUR PRAYERS FOR:
...Healing for Pastor Tony who is hospitalized
...Prayers for Dave Talbott after another aspiration
...Prayers for Buck Angel
Prayers from the Joy Thrift Prayer Wall:
...Prayers that those in need can find us easily and get the items needed to support them and their families.
To have your prayer included in this list, please add it to the mobile app or contact the church office.
