OCTOBER 21, 2021
Students had a blast at Brooks' annual block party on Saturday. See an album of photos on brooksschoolphotos.com, where you can also "Read More" information shared by Chair of the Science Department Laura Hajdukiewicz about why Brooks celebrates this event every year with purple pumpkins to increase awareness about epilepsy.
Schedule Update and Alert
We are no longer having a seated dinner on Tuesday. Following our All-Community Read guest speaker Professor Timothy Longman (who will discuss his book Confronting Apartheid from 7 to 8 p.m.), we will have an all-school dessert in Wilder Dining Hall. Check-in for third-, fourth- and fifth-form students will be at 9 p.m. and for sixth-form students, at 10 p.m. This is a required event for students.
OnBrooks Sign-In Account Update
Parent/guardian sign-in requirements for our community information system, OnBrooks, have been updated with new password requirements to increase security. All parent/guardian account passwords must meet the following minimum standard of 12 characters, one special character, one uppercase character and one lowercase character. This security enhancement is in effect for all accounts as of Oct. 12. Any parent/guardian account that does not meet these minimum requirements when they sign in will be prompted to reset their password. For questions or additional assistance, please contact Registrar Lisa Saunders.
Fall Midterm Progress Reports
Fall Midterm Progress Reports are now available in OnBrooks for parent/guardian viewing. Upon signing into OnBrooks, click on your student in the upper left and then select Progress > Performance to access report cards. For more information or support please contact Registrar Lisa Saunders.

Get to Know the New Faculty
Sixteen educators joined our ranks to teach at Brooks this fall. Put names to the faces and learn more about each of them in our new website story. The piece introduces each and shares some interesting personal details!
The Brooks Writing Center is Now Open!
After having been closed since Feb. 2020, last Monday the Brooks Writing Center (BWC) opened for the 2021-2022 year. According to English Department Chair Dean Charpentier, "The goal of the writing center is to provide a space for dialogue about student writing. Students come to the BWC seeking advice on a piece of writing for any number of reasons. The staff of the BWC are not copy editors, so we are not there to just fix all the comma mistakes, but we will engage a student in conversation about their writing, ask and answer questions, and offer suggestions when asked. The conversation about a specific piece should be driven by the writer."

The BWC will be open during the school day and in the evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. (For specific times, go to: OnBrooks > Groups > Writing Center. The times are still being finalized.) The center will be staffed by English faculty and student writing assistants and, for now, the BWC will operate on a walk-in basis. Feel free to contact Dean Charpentier with any questions.

Ghostly Goodies is Almost Here
We are grateful to all of the Brooks families who have already contributed or volunteered for our Ghostly Goodies Halloween event on Oct. 29. At this point, we have fulfilled the Amazon wishlist and the Sign-Up Genius. Thank you! If you would like to make a direct cash donation that we will utilize to underwrite aspects of the event (gift cards for the students and faculty raffle baskets, for example), please Venmo your donation to @Jessica-Kelleher-3.

If you would like to bake or buy treats to contribute, please drop them off on Oct. 29 between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in Wilder Dining Hall on the tables to your right, when entering the main door, and include a list of ingredients with all homemade treats.
