Year Two of COVID Health and Safety Protocols
Although we certainly are in a much better place with the global pandemic than a year ago, the children at CCPC Nursery School remain wholly unvaccinated. Protecting our community's health is my top priority. We will continue to follow our detailed guidance from the DC government specific to early childhood education centers. Please know that these regulations often vary significantly from CDC guidelines, and the DC government's guidance for the general public and school age children.

Please note: These guidelines may change at any time and we will keep you informed promptly of any new policies.
The details are available in this full document from the DC Department of Health.

Masking Policy
Masks will be required at all times (indoors) per DC guidance for all children (ages 2 and up) and all adults regardless of vaccination status. Parents may request that their child wear a mask outdoors as needed. That request goes directly to your lead teacher.
Vaccination Policy and Rates
We will comply with Mayor Bowser's new vaccine mandate for frontline employees. 100% of our teaching staff will be fully vaccinated by the deadline of November 1, 2021. Many of our teachers are now eligible and are receiving a third booster to more fully protect them in the classrooms.
Travel Return
Travel outside of the metropolitan area (defined as DC, Maryland and Virginia) for unvaccinated individuals (your child) still requires that your child:
  • Quarantine upon return home. When your child has been home 72 hours (3 FULL days) after your return, you may administer a COVID test. If the test is negative, your child may return to school.
- OR -
  • Quarantine for a full 10 days after your return and your child can return without a COVID test.
Daily Health Screening
  • All children will undergo a health screening upon arrival every day as shown below.
  • If your child has a chronic medical condition with symptoms on the Covid exclusion list, please email a note from your medical provider stating the condition, known symptoms, and times of year those symptoms are expected. This will enable your child to attend school when these symptoms are present.
  • All teachers and staff will be screened daily, as will any adult entering the building who will present for more than 15 minutes. Parents attending Class Visiting Days and Back To School Night classroom meetings will all be screened.
  • Any specialists providing individual services to a child in their classroom (e.g. speech/OT therapy) will undergo full health screening.
New HVAC Units throughout the Education Wing
After applying for and receiving a substantial grant from the Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF), we are replacing all classroom HVAC units to improve respiratory health. We will also continue to use separate air purifier units in each room as well. Our customary robust sanitizing and disinfecting of classroom surfaces and materials along with frequent hand washing will, of course, continue.
We are All in This Together

Parents have an important role outside of school in keeping the CCPC community safe.
As cases rise in our area, please remember that limiting your household's overall exposure is the best defense.

Consider keeping play dates limited to your classmates.

Keep your social circle small.

Avoid large public events that are crowded.

Mask up in community settings where vaccination status of others in attendance is unknown.
