Last month, the Southeast PA Chapter met with Mike Arnt, the HVAC instructor at Lancaster County CTC (LCCTC), and his students.
The meeting was a great opportunity for the Southeast PA Chapter to provide the school replacement burners from Beckett, Carlin, and Riello. These burners were donated to the school to provide the students with hands-on field experience.
In addition, the Chapter attendees had an opportunity to speak to the students about their work experiences and offered advice for a successful career in our industry.

At last month’s Westchester Chapter meeting, Vinnie Ventura of Venco Sales was our guest speaker. Vinnie gave an informative presentation about Steam Max Boilers, a dedicated steam unit with a ten-year warranty that is highly rated.
Attendees appreciated the detailed discussion on the benefits and features of this contractor-friendly boiler. Vinnie stressed the ease of installation because of the boiler’s optional installation kit, simplifying installation and the boiler’s multiple configurations, easing access to the boiler room.

We thank Vinnie for a great presentation! He eagerly answered questions and educated our contractors with his comprehensive knowledge of the steam system.

At last month’s New Haven Chapter Meeting, the guest speaker was Chris Herb, Executive Director of the CT Energy Marketers Association (CEMA). Chris gave an informative presentation on the current legislative affairs surrounding our industry. He highlighted a state initiative, brought forth by the California Clean Air Board (CARB), to electrify homes and cars by the year 2035.
CEMA is launching a grassroots effort to battle this plan through presence at meetings and education of local municipalities’ energy-related boards. He emphasized it is a fight we can win, but needs the participation of everyone.
We thank Chris for his time and a great presentation. Attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner and informative discussion. In addition to members in attendance, there were two new and two returning student guests from the Entech Training Center.

The Eastern Ct Chapter of Oil & Energy Service Professionals held its chapter meeting last month with 15 attendees including company owners, technicians, and manufacturers reps. Everyone enjoyed hearing from Fred Mariah of David Gooding, Inc. who spoke about Roth oil tanks with emphasis on oil containment issues facing installers today.
Fred was followed by Guy Woolard of Heat-Flo who led a very engaging discussion on Heat-Flo indirect water heaters covering proper sizing, piping, application strategies, anode maintenance, as well as the impacts of water quality, treated and untreated, on tank type water heaters.
The monthly raffle prize, a Rectorseal flaring kit, generously donated by EDOS Manufacturers Reps, was won by Ray Lopez of R&W Heating. A second raffle prize of two passes to the Eastern Energy Expo, being held this May 22-25 at the Mohegan Sun were won by a fortunate Henry Moy, also from R&W Heating.
Congratulations to both winners and a heartfelt thank you to Fred Mariah and Guy Woolard.
Next month the ECOESP is pleased to welcome Dave Holdorf from Taco. Stay tuned for our meeting announcement!

At last month’s CT Valley meeting, 17 members and guests were treated to an educational presentation on Honeywell connected solutions.
The presenters were Roger Stolting and Rick Pothier, both of EDOS Reps. The crowd was treated to another delicious meal provided by the staff of Portofino’s. Details of the B100 project that is being conducted by Entech and its school board were discussed by board chairman George Perrelli.

The South Jersey Chapter meeting last month featured Tom Sinnott of Keystone Sales & Associates presenting a program called, “How to Improve Indoor Air Quality, Fresh Air Appliance Filtration & Control. Best Practices for HRV & ERVs.” The group enjoyed an excellent dinner and great company.

The Poconos Chapter was excited to have 22 members and guests in attendance for its February meeting. After the general membership meeting, President Sal Furino introduced Dan Kelly, product manager for Seitron Americas. Dan’s presentation on proper combustion and use of combustion analyzers was outstanding.
Then, Joe Vitale from Vitale & Sons Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning updated members on a recent Oil Heat Cares project his team completed. Joe thanked Rosemarie Bartchak from Boyertown Furnace for supplying the warm air furnace and F.W. Webb of Allentown Pa. for supplying parts to complete project. Thanks again to Joe, Nick and the Vitale staff for your time to install the equipment.

The association depends on its members to keep the wheels turning. So, please keep current with your dues. Paper invoices were mailed at the end of January for those who did not reply to the emailed version. If you typically receive your invoice by mail, please provide us with your email address so that we can send it that way in the future.
For those who have not had a chance to renew, please expect to hear from your chapter’s membership chair in a few weeks. Also, please provide updated information so that we can send your invoice promptly. If you have questions, please contact me at lstrug@thinkoesp.org or 888-552-0900.

And, of course there’s the annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 24, where we will honor our own who have worked so hard on our behalf, and we will also honor some exceptional future members of our industry.
OESP is accepting applications for these very important awards. They will be presented at the OESP annual awards banquet at the EEE on Tuesday, May 24. When registration opens, please purchase your tickets ASAP. Details can be found on the OESP website or above in this newsletter.
