Deadline approaches for Precinct Chair and House Districts Positions
Letter from Marc Mayer

Filing for candidates is open now. Today, I am highlighting the local federal and state-level races today:

Congressional District 08: Laura Jones, the Democratic Chair in San Jacinto County has filed with the FEC and is actively collecting signatures. Watch for her events here locally. Jacob Osborne had filed early, but has indicated he is not going to run. I have spoken with one other potential candidate, but no other filings, yet.
Senate District 04: Jay Stittleburg is already in the race.

House District 03: I have spoken with one potential candidate, but no filings at this point. This district is shared with Waller County, but no candidates have raised their hand there, either.

House District 15: I have a couple of potential candidates on my radar, and Lorena Perez McGill still has an open treasurer appointment, but hasn’t indicated if she is running again.

House District 16: I don’t have a potential candidate at this time. Griffin Winkworth had filed an early campaign treasurer appointment, but has told me he is not running. This district runs from Dobbin and Richards on the west side to Splendora in East County.

Yesterday was “National Run for Something Day”. I’d like for everyone to strongly consider running for something! Contact me at (936) 333-3874 by phone or text if you are interested. We are really in need of attorneys that are willing to run for judicial positions and law enforcement officers willing to run for constable and sheriff. The filing period is open until December 9th.

Montgomery County Democratic Party Needs You (As a Precinct Chair)

The Montgomery County Democratic Party is currently recruiting Precinct Chairs. In order to build our base and organize local Democratic voters in Texas, we need individuals from every precinct who are willing to reach out to fellow Democrats or independent voters. We offer training and support for our Precinct Chairs. If you live in any of the precincts listed below, and you would like to get active in local organizing and working elections, please contact our office for more information and an official application. You may also download an application form at https://www.sos.texas.gov/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-1f.pdf#search=application%20for%20precinct%20chair.

If you don’t know your precinct, check your current voter registration card, or go to MontgomeryVotes.org, select Your Registration Status, enter your name and DOB in the Voter Registration Lookup. The deadline to file to be on the ballot next year is December 9, 2019. However, even if you miss the deadline, you may still apply in case no one else is elected to the position.

  VOTER ALERT!
CHECK YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION STATUS!!

In this time of aggressive voter purges, internet hacking, and various forms of voter suppression, it is extremely important to confirm that your registration status is current and active. Texas is among the states that enforces voter suspension and purging of "inactive" or voters. In Montgomery County alone, there are over 44,000 voter files which have been marked for suspension and eventual purging. For various reasons you may have had your registration suspended. Reasons may include moving without updating your information, not voting in the previous 2 elections, or having mail returned as undeliverable to the Elections administration.

Don't miss out on your right to vote. You may use these links to check your voter registration status to confirm you are up-to-date, to be sure you have the required form(s) of ID to cast your ballot, to find your precinct # and voting locations as well as a SAMPLE BALLOT for your precinct.
