JENNIFER:

Greetings Walden Families!

I hope you all had a nice August break. I am very excited to see all of our students when they return to school on Monday, August 30. Here are a few things about the beginning of this school year I need to share with you.

Advisors/Schedules
Your child’s advisor should be reaching out to you to introduce themselves and check with you how best to communicate with you this school year. Your involvement and partnership with the program are critical to each child’s success here.

Contact to School
We are trying something new this school year. If your child is absent or you need general information, please contact the Walden School Main Office at (508) 626-8581, or email us at waldenschool@tlcdeaf.org. Our front office administrative assistants will assist you.

School Supplies
Like all new school years, students will need supplies for school. We will be providing all of them with planners to document their homework and assignments. They will need the following supplies for classes:

  • face masks
  • water bottle
  • pencils
  • pens
  • folder for each class (8)
  • magic markers
  • color pencils
  • sketchbook (if your child has an art classes)

Building Update
In August, the Walden School building got a face lift. The entire building has been painted, the floors have been cleaned and sealed, and all classrooms have been deep cleaned. Our HVAC systems have been replaced and much more. These changes make the building look brighter and inviting! I am sure the students will love it as much as staff do.

JENNIFER:

As you may recall, I announced that I will be retiring - my last day will be September 3. TLC is still pursuing a Principal to replace me. In the interim, please contact the Walden School front office with any questions, and they will refer you to the person who can support your request.

I am truly grateful and honored to have worked with each and every family here at Walden School. I will miss the students, staff and you but you will forever be in my heart. I wish you the best and hope your child has a successful school year.
KAREN:

Hello! I am Karen Bishop, COO at The Learning Center for the Deaf. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I have worked here for 31 years, most of the time at Walden School. First as Educational Coordinator, then Assistant Director, then Director. After that, I transitioned to COO, the job I’ve held for the past four years.

Starting on Monday, August 30th, I will transition back to Walden School as Interim Director. As you know, Michelle Cline has been leave, so I will be shifting my role to support Walden School, support our leaders and, most importantly, to support your children.

Please let me know if you want to set up a time to chat, through VP, email… with whatever may come up. I look forward to working with all of you, the staff and working with your children. Thank you and have a great weekend!
