THE APOSTLE PAUL – LESSON 57

HIS MANY HARDSHIPS

All of the Apostles were tortured for Christ. All except John were martyred. But it is only Paul of whom we know so much of his sufferings for the Kingdom of Heaven. We saw only a few such instances in this series, but there were so many more.

Paul mentions them in 2 Corinthians 11:22-27. They include the following:

·        Stripes above counting from whips

·        In prison more than any others

·        Left for dead often

·        Five times whipped by Jews with 39 lashes. (forty is a death sentence)

·        Three times beaten with rods

·        Stoned once

·        Shipwrecked three times

·        A full day and night “in the deep” of the sea.

·        On the road often

·        Perils in the waters

·        Perils of robbers on the roads

·        Perils by the hand of his own country men, the Jews

·        Perils from supposed Christian brothers against him

·        Perils from the heathen

·        Perils in the wilderness

·        Weariness

·        Watchings

·        Fastings

·        Hunger and thirst

·        Cold and naked

·        A chronic “thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7)

His life as a Christian was harder than anything you or I could imagine going through ourselves. But he said that God’s grace was sufficient to strengthen him through it all (2 Cor. 12:9 and Philippians 4:11-13.)

Why did Paul have it so hard? Well, some might read Galatians 6:7 where it says, “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” That goes along with the popular saying, “what goes around, comes around.” Eastern mysticism calls it “karma.”

That would seem to fit Paul’s case. He (as Saul) persecuted the believers, imprisoned them, and some were killed by his relentless pursuit of them. Consequently, it came back upon him as a Christian himself, reaping what he had sown.

Others may reject that notion because Paul had a polarizing personality. Most people either loved him or hated him, with little or no middle ground. Those hating him would persecute him. But many of his perils came as a result of his many travels along perilous routes taking the gospel to many lands. These “testings” proved to strengthen him through God’s favor (grace).

Whatever hardship you or I might experience pales in comparison. Yet our strength to endure is from the same source as his was. In Christ Jesus we find our strength.

WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING?

If we were to watch the news (which I don’t) we would see mayhem, murder, money laundering, sex trafficking, drug busts, riots in the streets, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, divorce, hatred, counterculture, cults, and so much more evil, that it would turn our stomach.

There have been words given by well known prophets that things are going to get better, while other prophets say brace yourself, everything is going downhill. There is more division in the church than ever, and the political atmosphere is totally out of control.

There is more money spent and more debt than the world even has. Families are torn apart, and disease is running rampant. Plagues have hit the world while there are fights over masks and over getting the “jab.”

It reminds me of the angels that went to Sodom to get Lot out. Lot didn’t want them to stay in the street because he knew they would get raped by the sodomizers of that city. Even though he knew the conditions where he lived were full of evil, Lot did nothing about it. His wife was so wrapped up in the evil that when the angels led them out, and was told to not look back, she looked back to this sinful lifestyle and was turned into a pillar of salt when the fire and brimstone fell and destroyed the city. Later his daughters got their father drunk and both got pregnant by him. Jesus said when he returned it would be as in the days of Lot.

You might think that sin is new, but it isn’t. It has been around since the Garden of Eden. The gross sins that are happening have always been there, but they were “in the closet.” Now they have come out and people are wondering how this happened. It happened because these people are lost, without God, and have become reprobates because someone did not tell them about Jesus. When someone becomes a reprobate, they are totally controlled by Satan and there is no turning back. It is too late. (Read Romans Chapter 1.)

All of these things taking place are bringing the world to its final chapter. It is setting the stage for the Antichrist to come on the scene and bring his “peace” plan. Of course, if you read the bible, you know his plan is all deception. How will this happen? The same way it has always happened because God’s people don’t spend time in “the book” of life. They are too busy with their own agenda and will be led like sheep going to the slaughter.

If you go to the average church, you will see there is nothing but worship and feel-good messages. If you ask someone what they like best about their church often you will hear, “the worship”. You rarely hear about the cost of discipleship, and if you do hear preaching against sin, the church will lose its members because they think you are judging them. Because of this lack of evangelism, the church has become lukewarm, unable to grasp the conditions about it. It blames the government or the president, and rarely looks into the mirror at oneself.

The truth of the matter is, we are in the end of the end times, and the Lord is coming back soon. I know you are thinking that has been said for a long time and it hasn’t happened, but we are in the age where it will happen.

Jesus told his disciples when the fig tree begins to blossom to look up. When that happens the generation that sees it would not pass away. The fig tree is representative of Israel, and it became a nation in 1948. That is 73 years ago. Some believe 70 is a generation while there are some that believe it is 80 or 50 or 100. It really doesn’t matter. The time is nearly up for the generation that saw it become a nation.

Are you ready for the hard times that will come when Antichrist comes on the scene? You may think you will be gone in the rapture (catching away of the saints), but what if it doesn’t play out before the tribulation? I pray that you are ready no matter when it happens.

Some believe there will be a great revival. I believe that there will be a great falling away from truth. That is already happening. Yes, there will be souls saved, but it takes someone to witness to these souls for that to happen. I rarely hear anyone leading someone to the Lord. For the most part everyone in the church thinks it is the Pastor’s job. They are wrong. It is the Pastor, Prophet, Evangelist, Apostle, and Teacher’s job to equip the saints to do this. If you haven’t been trained, then you are in a church that is lukewarm, and God will spit that church out of his mouth.

Are we being negative? No, my friends, we are just telling you the truth, and now it is up to you to do something with it.

PROPHETIC WORD

AS GIVEN TO HELEN SANDERS

5-31-2021

I would say to you this day forge ahead. Like a plow in the fields breaking up the ground, it is time to push harder than ever. For you are about to birth the vision that I have put into your heart. It will come forth, but you must push and push harder than ever to bring forth the delivery. Do not look at the size of the vision, whether it is big or small, for the vision that I have given is for you and for you to carry out. Do not look to man to tell you about your vision, for the vision is for you and for you alone. You do not need to ask others about it, for I have placed it in your heart, and I will bring it forth. I am the husbandman in the field of your life, and I will bring forth much fruit as you have labored faithfully in my field and you will see much fruit, yes, much fruit, but this is the hour to push ahead. You will forge into places that you have not known and at first it shall seem that you have been deceived, but it is I that has put this plan into action. You are not deceived although for a time it will look like you have been my child, for the process takes place in the birthing. The water shall break forth first, then the delivery. Do not focus on the water, for it will distract you from the birthing of the vision. The water must come but the delivery follows. Many have gotten to the place that you are at but have had a still birth because of fear to deliver, but I know your heart and I know the plans I have for you and be confident that you shall bring forth what I have laid in your heart., I am with you through the process, there will be pain of letting go of some things but it must happen for the birth to take place. When the vision comes there will be a cutting of the cord, for that was attached to the birthing but not to the final outcome. You shall rise up from the ashes and you shall see restoration of things that have been stolen, for in this new season and in this time of visionaries you shall accomplish great exploits. Do not again, do not look at the birthing as the finality of the vision, for it is the beginning of what I have promised. Now rest in me and know that I will be here to see the birthing take place saith the Lord.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

You only try to hide what you will not confront; And what you will not confront you cannot ever conquer. The time has come to stop the waiting game and to begin confronting; For it’s only when you face the music and confront...That you’ll be able to conquer. Remember God’s Word tells us that we’re all MORE than conquerers through Jesus Christ who loves us. (Romans 8:37) So don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
