BREWSTER DAY CAMP          Newsletter   July 19, 2020        Vol. 39 Issue 12

Dear Brewster Day Camp Family & Friends,

Each summer, during Week 3 we expand the notion of our Special Event Days from a simple theme to a full-Friday activity. Creative Arts Day provides campers of all ages the opportunity to explore the arts in new ways. Traditionally, we have the pleasure of inviting artists from within and outside of the Camp Family to our campus to share their craft, their processes, and their art with our campers and staff. Including 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional visual art, music, and performing arts and artists, our Camp Family is able to explore familiar mediums and experience new art forms.

Harnessing the power of creativity and artistic expression is a vital component of the camp experience. At BDC, we encourage creativity in all forms, from engaging in new mediums to creating unique pieces of art, to honing our creative problem solving skills. These opportunities for creativity, whether in our Art Tent, on our Low Ropes Course, or anywhere in between, push our campers and staff to continue their own skill-building and social-emotional development, both individually and with their peers.

Although we are not all together this summer at 3570 Main Street to meet new artists in-person, you can celebrate Creative Arts Day by exploring art in your life wherever you are! In addition to finding art in nature and throughout your life, please check out our Week 3 - Creative Arts activities below.

Remember to share with us on social media all of the creativity and art in your life by submitting your videos to us. See details below on how to do tha.

We look forward to sharing all of our Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace...

Share your summer with the BDC Family!

We have created a brand-new video newsletter for BDC'20...starring YOU! Each week, please send us videos of your family completing the activities that we send you or simply incorporating Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace into your lives. With your help, we will create a weekly video newsletter showcasing all of the magic that you, the BDC Family, is enjoying. Here are some instructions:
  1. To capture video on cell phones or iPads, please turn the device horizontally (landscape).
  2. 10 seconds of video is the perfect length.
  3. Your device's microphone is sensitive, so make sure to stand close (under 6 feet) to the person you're filming so that we can hear them.
  4. Capture a few seconds at the beginning and end of the action to allow us to edit the clip.
  5. Please send us the one best video of your activity.
  6. Please send us the video unedited, videos with titles and graphics will not be used.

Have fun filming! When you have a video to send us, upload it directly to our BDC dropbox:

Please call or email with any questions or comments!

By uploading videos, you give BDC permission to use this content for marketing purposes on our website and social medias.
We thank you!
