Wellfleet's Labor Day weekend parade postponed to 2022

A lot has changed on the Outer Cape since the Wellfleet Chamber postponed the Fourth of July Parade until Labor Day weekend. Breakthrough COVID cases amongst the vaccinated rose across the Cape Cod region, and indoor mask mandates and outdoor mask recommendations have been reinstated locally– all while our businesses and the public experienced one of the busiest seasons in Wellfleet to date. It's been a difficult summer navigating how to safely operate to maintain the health and well-being of our community, and knowing what we do now– we feel it's no time to let our guard down.

It is with much consideration that we have decided to postpone the Antique Car and Float Parade scheduled for September 4, 2021, until Fourth of July in 2022. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause those planning to attend or participate. Public safety is our highest priority, and we feel postponing the parade is in our community's best interest– especially that of young children not eligible for vaccination, who are heading back to school the following week.

We are so grateful for all who have marched and cheered and joined the revelry in the past, and for those who can come out for a big and festive parade next summer.

At this time the Chamber would like to formally salute "Wellfleet's Workers", who we planned to honor at the parade this Labor Day weekend. We are so filled with appreciation for our year-round and seasonal workforce, who have been on the front lines of the pandemic, tirelessly serving our community– thank you for your service.
