Week Two of Town Meeting Wraps Up

The second week of Town Meeting has wrapped up, and Town Meeting Members took action on a number of articles.


This week, Town Meeting debated and took action on a non-binding Zero Waste resolution, Pet Store Bylaw, and replacement of a Town Pool water heater, among other articles.

Town Meeting resumes on Monday, April 11 at 7:30 PM virtually.

Curbside Yard Waste Collection Begins Next Monday, April 11

Curbside yard waste collection for the spring takes place every other week between April and the end of June on your regular trash/recycling collection day.


The first week of yard waste collection this year begins the week of Monday, April 11.

 

Yard waste includes leaves, grass, plants, wood chips, pine needles, and brush 1" or less in diameter. Put it in paper bags, or barrels without lids, placed away from your trash/recycling.

 

Yard waste stickers for barrels are available at the Department of Public Works. Call 781-274-8300 ext. 1 for details.

Patriots Day Activities Weekend of April 16-18

Are you ready for Patriots Day 2022? There are a number of events lined up for the first in-person celebration since 2019.


There will be events starting at 8AM on Saturday, April 16 with Parker's Revenge, and continuing through Monday, April 18 with the reenactment, parades, pancake breakfast, and more!

April is Fair Housing Month; Fair Housing Month Workshop April 26

April is Fair Housing Month, which celebrates the passage of the federal Fair Housing Act in 1968.


The Fair Housing Act protects people from discrimination when they are renting or buying a home, getting a mortgage, seeking housing assistance, or engaging in other housing-related activities.


It prohibits discrimination in housing because of:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National Origin
  • Religion
  • Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation)
  • Familial Status
  • Disability


Massachusetts also prohibits discrimination against people who receive government assistance such as rental vouchers.

Fair Housing Workshop April 26

Lexington is one of 13 communities that are part of the WestMetro HOME Consortium (WMHC). The WMHC will be hosting an upcoming workshop to raise awareness of fair housing rights.

Lexington Special Needs Resource Fair TOMORROW, Sat., April 9

The Lexington Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) and Lexington Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) will be hosting an upcoming fair to share information and resources with families with students who have special needs.


Meet therapists, recreational organizations, nonprofits, schools, and other providers who serve families with children with special needs of all ages.

Dismantling Racism in Our Town; In-Person Training Session starts April 25

Registration for Dismantling Racism in Our Town (DRIOT) is now open! DRIOT is a seven-week learning journey offered by and for those who live, work, study and/or worship in Lexington or nearby towns. It is designed to strengthen our personal and collective awareness of the history and social structures of anti-Black racism and their consequences; and to commit together to undo and repair the legacies of racism and white supremacy in ourselves and our communities.


The spring session will be in person on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Lexington Community Center beginning April 25, and running through June13 (no meeting on Memorial Day).

The Town Clerk's Office would like to remind dog owners that 2022 license renewals have been sent out in the mail, and licenses must be obtained by April 15. 


If you have not received a form, or no longer have your pet, please email the Clerk's Office or call 781-698-4558.


You can pay for your dog's license online.
