Current Announcements
Due to COVID restrictions, we are not yet able to parents on campus for events held inside. Please understand, we are ready to have all of our parental involvement events back on campus. Until then, we will continue to find ways to keep you engaged with your child's progress.

We have developed a "Back to School Night" digitally. Please click on the link below to access our website dedicated to allow you to meet your child's teacher. Each teacher has created a short introduction video for your convenience. Please use the navigation bar at the top of the page to locate your child's grade level and teacher. Email information is available for each teacher as well. Please continue to be patient as we navigate through unfamiliar territory with this pandemic. We appreciate all of your support!


CROCS!!!
Parents, Crocs, slides, slippers, etc, are NOT allowed to be worn by students throughout the day. Please do not allow students to bring them in their backpacks nor wear them to school. This is a violation of our uniform policy and students will receive appropriate disciplinary actions.
Youth Mentoring
Our community is in a devastating place right now and we need to do all we can to save our young people. Each day the local news report the impact gun violence has on our young people. We had a potentially dangerous scare almost enter the campus a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to a concerned parent, we were able to intercept the situation and maintain the safety of everyone on campus.

Before the pandemic, we implemented a girls and boys mentoring program on campus. We are planning to bring back our mentoring program for males right now as it appears to be the most needed system today! This organization will be run by men on the campus and serve male students in grades 3 - 8.

We will begin meeting after schools in October. The safety of all individuals after school as it relates to social distancing and additional safety protocols, will remain top priority.

Past Announcements
Progress Reports Online

Your child’s progress report is now available online in Caddo’s JCampus Parent Portal. Once in the Parent Portal, you may access the student progress report by clicking “GRADES” from the top menu. The student’s current grades will be displayed. You can click on any grade for more detailed information.  Please review the progress report with your child. If you would like to set up a conference to discuss the progress report, contact the school’s counselor. We will not longer send paper copies of progress reports home with students.

Quarantined Students

As numbers begin to spike in our community again, please understand that if your child is required to quarantine, you will receive a phone call from the principal as well as a letter indicating quarantine guidelines to be followed. Student days will be excused for the required quarantine period only.

If you or your child tested positive, or if your child has been exposed to someone who tested positive, please contact the front office and ask to speak with Dr. Webb so we can make proper arrangement and notifications.

Social Media

Parents, recently, social media has developed challenges for students to complete on school campuses to get likes. Many of these challenges will result in charges filed against the perpetrator. Please check your child's account frequently. Thanks

Drinks

Due to COVID guidelines, we had to disable all water fountains on campus and replace them with water bottle fillers. Only water is allowed to be brought by students and consumed throughout the day. Students should not have sodas or juice in class or in hallways. Juice may be consumed in the cafeteria with a students lunch.

PBIS

Due to all the negative influences our students are exposed to on social media, certain actions and behaviors are spreading throughout our community. This month, we are increasing our efforts of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support). Please look below for our student incentives for this month:

  • Students of the Week Recognitions
  • Turner's Arcade Room Invitations for rewards
  • Class Dojo grade level competitions
  • Middle School House Competitions - Kick-Off October 1 - Students will be assigned to one of four houses and will earn points for their house with positive behavior,
  • Halloween Costume Day for positive behavior ONLY - All students without any discipline infractions from September 29 - October 28, will be allowed to wear Halloween on October 29th costumes

4‑H provides kids with community, mentors, and learning opportunities to develop the skills they need to create positive change in their lives and communities. 4‑H programs are grounded in the belief that kids learn best by doing. Kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like science, health, agriculture and civic engagement, in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids can concentrate on one focus area or they can try a variety of programs throughout their 4‑H experience. All students in Turner’s 4-H club will have the opportunity to work in the school garden as well as receive guidance in maintaining a healthy lifestyle .

Caddo Parish School Board Announcements
One of our very own 4th grade students was given the opportunity to make the announcements for our last school board meeting. Baylie Webb did an amazing job! Please help me congratulate her when you see her!!
ID Required

You MUST provide your ID to check your child out, retrieve any records on your child, or to make any changes to your child's demographics. Sensitive information, such as this, can only be modified in person. No personal information can be provided over the phone. This policy is strictly enforced to maintain confidentiality and safety of your child.

It Pays To Be Safe...

Please click the link below for more information on the incentive program by the Louisiana Department of Health. This program pays you to get your child tested for COVID each week, on campus by registered health officials LSU.


No Baseball Caps

In an effort to minimize gang violence and paraphernalia, we are no longer allowing baseball caps to be worn at school. Please help us help our students e safe at school.


Early Drop-Offs

Parents, please help us keep your babies safe by adhering to our drop off policy. Do not drop your students off before 7:40 AM. They will be unsupervised. Supervision begins at 7:40 AM and teachers report to work for 7:45 AM.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

We do not begin to receive students until 7:40 AM each day. Student will not be supervised if dropped off before that time. Please make sure you only drop your child off or pick your child up using carpool. Although the line is pretty long, it moves pretty fast considering we have close to 1,400 students enrolled. Parents are not allowed to drive in the back of the school. Only employees and buses are allowed in that parking lot. Do not drop your child off in the turn-around near Chase Bank nor the Parent Resource building on the right side of the school. Do not drop your child off at the church across the street. These locations are not safe and we do not have any supervision or traffic control in those areas.

We all have time restraints and some even have to multi-task and make multiple stops, but the safety of our children takes precedence over convenience at all times. Please help us to help keep your child safe!

Change of Transportation

With safety as a huge priority, please make sure your send a signed note to your child's teacher if your child will go home a different way than what is on file. We cannot take any phone calls requesting your child go home differently than what is on file. We cannot verify your identity over the phone.

To enforce social distancing on campus and to prevent large crowds from entering the front office at the end of the day, check-outs end at 2:00 PM.


Cell Phones

Parents, we have a strict ZERO tolerance Cell Phone Policy. Cell Phones are NOT allowed to be seen or used at any time while on campus. This includes, but not limited to, before class, during class, during transitions, in the restroom, or waiting to be dismissed. If your child needs to have a cell phone while at school, it should remain turned off and in his or her backpack at all times. We do not invest the time into lost or stolen phones under any circumstance. If your child's cell phone is seen, it will be confiscated for 3 consecutive school days and ONLY returned to the parent/guardian. This policy is in effect for the protection of your child. With social media drama and bullying constantly causing hardships for students, we will do what it takes to prevent it from occurring during the school day. This is a non-negotiable and will continuously be enforced as such.


No Crocs Allowed

Due to safety concerns Crocs are NOT allowed to be worn throughout the school day. This is a strictly enforced policy.

Mask Policy

As part of the state guidelines and district plan on reopening the school year with a strong start, all students are required to wear face masks while indoors. For the most part, students are doing a fantastic job at keeping their masks on and pulled up over their nose and mouth. However, we do have to remind students from time to time of this priority. Wearing masks properly throughout the day is a top priority and will be treated as such. We will always have masks available for students in the event they lose or damage their mask. For the safety of your child as well as other individuals on the campus, this policy will be strictly enforced and disciplinary actions will be taken against those habitually violate this policy.

Exposure Notification

If your child has been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19 or is showing symptoms, please contact the school and speak with Dr. Webb. Also, keep your child at home to prevent further exposure. Each situation is different, so please make sure you contact Dr. Webb with any questions.

If your child is exposed to a positive case on campus, you will receive a phone call from Dr. Webb. Please make sure your phone numbers are up-to-date at all times.



LSU Health Shreveport
As we begin this new school year, the health and safety of all students and staff remains our top concern. I’m excited to announce that Caddo Parish Schools is starting a voluntary weekly COVID-19 testing program to help keep our school community safe and allow us to have regular in-person learning. Through this program, we will offer the highest quality PCR testing available at no cost to teachers, staff, students, and families.

Keeping school buildings open depends our ability to identify and take immediate action to address COVID-19 concerns on our campus. By identifying infections early, weekly testing will help keep transmission low and students in school for in-person learning, sports, and extracurricular activities.

This program will allow Turner to test both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals and reduce the risk to our school community. Each week a trained healthcare team FROM LSUHS will visit to conduct the testing program using a short nasal swab. The samples will be couriered to the CLIA-certified laboratory and tested using PCR technology. Results will be delivered by text or email by the end of the following day and any individuals with positive tests will be contacted by our team about next steps.

Below is important information on how to register and what to expect when testing. Every additional person tested reduces the chance of the virus spreading in our community so it is my hope that all our families will take advantage of the opportunity to help our school be as safe as it can possibly be and to remain open without any disruption.

Please see below for our Football and Girls Softball Schedules. This year, ALL tickets for athletic events MUST be purchased online at Local Level Events. We are working on getting bleachers for our football field. Please bring a chair, or other seating options, for now to our home games.
