It's back to school time! We're talking about getting back into the swing of things, from 504 Plans to CGMs. Join the conversation.
All children with diabetes should be medically safe at school and in other care settings, be treated fairly, and have access to the same educational and related opportunities as their peers.
This conversation will cover:
- General overview of 504 Plans and accommodations, including transitions into middle school and high school (e.g., why would I still need a 504 if my teen is independent?)
- COVID and school accommodations
- Diabetes tech and schools
- Q and A
Our guest will be Laura Keller, a Director of State Government Affairs for the American Diabetes Association, overseeing nine states (AZ, AK, ID, MT, NM, OR, UT, WA, Washington DC) She has been with the ADA for over 21 years, serving in government affairs, fundraising, and youth programs. Laura’s ADA camp name is “Coral” because she loves the ocean and has lived healthy with type 1 diabetes for over 21 years.
Laura will also bring a diabetes educator who does school trainings to help answer questions.
This "Hope-mongering" parent support session is September 16 at 7pm, hosted on Zoom.
