NYS Travel Advisory Update
On Tuesday, Governor Cuomo announced the addition of five states to the travel advisory. Arizona, Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island, and Wyoming now meet the metrics to qualify for the travel advisory. No locations were removed from the list. Chapters should continue to review the list and advise employees of the current designated states. The current list can be found here.
OPWDD COVID-19 Data
The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) shared data regarding the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths due to COVID-19 within the service system.
As of September 23, 2020:
- 3,534 individuals supported have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
- 2,839 of these cases involve individuals residing in certified residential facilities.
- There have been 466 deaths relating to COVID-19.
- 4,352 staff have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
OPWDD has not yet supplied more detailed data regarding COVID-19 cases by setting. As a reminder, New York state maintains data on cases by county here.
Webinar: Transitioning Away from Center-Based Day Programs
The Arc US conducted a webinar on September 16, titled "Transitioning Away from Center-Based Day: Examples and a Conversation." OPWDD Return to Day Services Webinar Materials
On September 17, OPWDD conducted a webinar to assist Care Managers and providers in supporting individuals with making informed choices about returning to in-person day services. Titled "COVID-19 Webinar: The Return to Day Services and Individual Decision-Making," the webinar provided an overview of the OPWDD Person-Centered Planning process and its role in supporting individuals to decide whether or not to return to a day program.
Follow-up to Thursday's Phone Rally
