Each year, the chamber embarks on another year of “Leadership.”
Time tested, ever evolving, always meaningful.
Hutchinson Leadership Institute is going into its 33rd year!
WHAT!?! Yes, 33 years of building leaders and community. You probably already know this program is very dear to my heart, and the nine other volunteers who make up the Design Team for Leadership.
As the years go by, we watch groups of humans walk into a room, not knowing many, if any, of the other participants; we watch them after nine months walk away friends and colleagues.
As applications continue to come in for year 33, I can’t help but look back at success stories from the past.
One woman I think of climbed a tower she thought was too tall and too scary, once she made it to the top everyone celebrated her ability to move past the fear and just do it; right then I snapped a photo of her waving. When she was on the ground again, she told me to send the photo to her husband, to prove she made it. He later told me he wouldn’t have believed it without the photo… her fear of heights was immense. She did it!
I think of two grown men ending up nose to nose, literally, during a game. The group laughed so hard, but they didn’t lose connectivity… they weren’t going to lose even if everyone couldn’t control themselves watching them.
We’ve watched countless people overcome the fear of speaking, trying something new, learning about themselves in a deeper way…. The groups support one another through the struggles and cheer on the successes.
Year 32 brought five project groups working to help the community in some way. One project is included in the newsletter today.
Financial literacy was very important to this project group, so they created a financial information sheet for young employees in your business.
You can provide this sheet to them with their new employee paperwork. It is meant for the high schoolers, or right out of college young people.
If you, or someone you know, haven’t been through Leadership Institute, the time is now. This is the sign. This is what you’ve been waiting to hear. Learn, Grow, Reach, Stretch.
Leadership 2.0 is also still taking applications, but starts in one month, on September 1. If you’ve been through Leadership Institute, but realize you have more to learn about yourself, this is it!
I’ll see you at Leadership!
What a perfect time to thank you our Design Team!
Adam Ament, Matt Beilke, Roman Bloemke, Jackie Borka, Mary Hodson, Mark Lansink, Don Martinez, Andrea Moore, Karlie Mosher & Bo Young.
The human circle of all things thoughtful, intentional, kind, and passionate for Leadership, create each session built for today’s business environment. They work to make monthly sessions informative, enlightening, and fun.
THANK YOU for all you do to make this program shine so brightly!

Grant applications are due by September 1, 2021!
Since 2013, the Chamber has enjoyed granting money to events held in Hutchinson hosted by nonprofits and for-profits. These grants help cover the expense of marketing that covers a radius outside the Hutchinson area for the event. These events help the Chamber bring more people to our beautiful and welcoming community – there really is #MuchInHutch!
Tell your friends, co-workers, committees, and organizations about the Chamber’s Tourism Marketing Grant. We love to help events as they help us and increase the traffic and awesomeness of Hutchinson!

As a former Business Consultant for McDonald's and many trips through Hutchinson to their family cabin. The Lake's saw Hutchinson as a vibrant growing community and knew this was where they eventually wanted to own a restaurant. As the former grocery store became available they believed it was the perfect time to open a second Pizza Ranch location.
In May of 2020 the Fun Zone was planned to open but due to COVID the Fun Zone actually opened in August of 2020. Now it loved by many!
